OKLAHOMA CITY BEAT NEW ORLEANS 123-118 IN THAT OTHER WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAY-IN, AND THAT MEANS THE THUNDER WILL PLAY THE TIMBERWOVLES, AT TARGET CENTER, AND THAT WINNER WILL BECOME THE 8TH SEED IN THE WEST PLAYOFFS. THAT WOULD BE A MATCH UP WITH TOP-SEEDED DENVER IN THE FIRST ROUND.
THE MINNESOTA WILD WILL FINISH 3RD IN THEIR DIVISION AFTER DALLAS PICKED UP A WIN OVER ST LOUIS LAST NIGHT. DALLAS AND COLORADO ARE BOTH STILL ALIVE FOR THE DIVISION TITLE, SO THE WILD’S FIRST ROUND OPPONENT REMAINS UNKNOWN.
WILD FORWARD RYAN HARTMAN HAS BEEN SUSPENDED ONE GAME, SO HE’LL MISS THE FINAL GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON. THAT’S FOR A HEAVY HIT HE LAID ON A JETS PLAYER, THAT ALSO DREW AN INTERFERENCE CALL.
SONNY GRAY WAS GOOD AGAIN AND THE MINNESOTA TWINS BEAT THE CHICAGO WHITE SOX 3-1. INFIELDER KYLE FARMER DID HAVE LEAVE THE GAME AFTER BEING BLOODIED WHEN HE WAS HIT IN THE FACE BY A PITCH. SEVERITY OF THAT INJURY IS UNCLEAR. BYRON BUXTON APPEARS TO HAVE AVOIDED INJURY FROM A COLLISION WITH WHITE SOX 2ND BASEMAN WHILE RUNNING THE BASES.
