ALLIED CONCERT SERVICES, WHICH PROVIDES ENTERTAINERS FOR ROSEAU’S NORTHERN LIGHTS CONCERT SERIES, IS HOPEFUL SCHEDULED TOURS STARTING IN JANUARY WILL GO FORWARD; BUT A DECISION WON’T BE MADE UNTIL EARLY OCTOBER. TWO CONCERTS SCHEDULED FOR THE ROSEAU SCHOOL THEATRE IN MARCH AND APRIL WERE CANCELLED; AND THE FIRST CONCERT FOR THIS FALL WAS SCHEDULED ON THE 21ST OF SEPTEMBER.
THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, THIS WEEK, RE-APPOINTED BRUCE ANDERSON TO THE TWO RIVERS WATERSHED BOARD; AND APPOINTED CARTER DIESEN AND LaVERNE VOLL TO THE ROSEAU RIVER WATERSHED BOARD. DIESEN CURRENTLY SERVES ON THAT BOARD; VOLL IS A FORMER WATERSHED BOARD MANAGER.
MINNESOTA’S RESPONSE RATE FOR THE 2020 U.S. CENSUS IS AT JUST OVER SEVENTY-FOUR PERCENT; NATIONALLY, THAT NUMBER IS 65%. FIELD WORK FOR THE CENSUS ENDS THIS MONTH OR NEXT. IN DETROIT LAKES, CITY ADMINISTRATOR KELCEY KLEMM SAYS PARTICIPATION RATES IN HIS COMMUNITY HAVE DROPPED. ROSEAU COUNTY’S RESPONSE RATE FOR THE CENSUS IS AT SIXTY-TWO PERCENT, BELOW THE NATIONAL AVERAGE. IN LAKE OF THE WOODS COUNTY, IT’S THIRTY-THREE PERCENT, SECOND LOWEST IN THE STATE (COOK COUNTY IS AT 31%).
YOUTH HOCKEY TOURNAMENTS SCHEDULED THIS WINTER IN ROSEAU ARE STILL A GO, SAYS ORGANIZER BILL LUND. THE FIRST OF THOSE TOURNAMENTS IS SET FOR NOVEMBER. NEARLY A DOZEN TOURNAMENTS ARE PLANNED IN ROSEAU.
A MAJOR HIGHWAY ELEVEN RE-CONSTRUCTION PROJECT IS SCHEDULED IN THE CITY OF WARROAD IN 2023, WHICH WOULD INCLUDE WORK ON THE BRIDGE OVER THE WARROAD RIVER, AND COULD INCLUDE ROUNDABOUTS AT TWO CURRENT STOPLIGHT LOCATIONS. T J MELCHER, AT THE BEMIDJI OFFICE OF THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, SAYS THREE YEARS ISN’T LONG IN THE HIGHWAY PLANNING WORLD. THAT WARROAD WORK WOULD EXTEND FROM COUNTY ROAD FIVE ON THE EAST END OF THE CITY TO HIGHWAY 313 ON THE WEST END.

A HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION IS THIS AFTERNOON (1-4 PM) AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT IN ROSEAU. COUNTY HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTIONS ARE TOMORROW IN BADGER AND GREENBUSH.
