Roseau County has 714 Positive Cases; with 32 new cases reported today; and 1 accumulated death.
Minnesota has once again easily broken the daily record for new cases of COVID-19 with the state health department on Saturday reporting 8,703 cases. That crushes the previous record of 7,228 set earlier this week.
The update includes 35 more deaths, brining the state’s total since mid-March to 2,874. Of those, 1,981 were residents of long-term care facilities, including 27 of the 35 newly reported deaths. The youngest fatal cases reported Saturday are two people in their 50s, from Hennepin and Dakota counties, respectively.
The state has reported 417 deaths in the first 14 days of November compared to 423 in all of October.
The 8,703 positive results in Saturday’s update were from a total of 52,311 completed tests, creating a daily test positivity rate of 16.63%.
Those completed tests were from 23,371 people. People are often tested more than once, so the test positivity rate when dividing positives by people tested is 37.24% today.
The World Health Organization recommended in May that a percent positive rate (total positives divided by total completed tests) of below 5% for at least two weeks is necessary to safely reopen the economy. That 5% threshold is based on total positives divided by total tests.
According to Johns Hopkins University, Minnesota’s percent positive over the past seven days is 14.21%.
Statewide:
- Total tests: 3,356,392 (up from 3,304,436)
- People tested: 2,116,633 (up from 2,093,262)
- Positive cases: 216,028 (up from 207,339)
- Deaths: 2,874 – 38 of which are “probable*” (up from 2,839)
