Today’s Covid-19 Update for Sunday, December 6 2020

12/06/2020

Roseau County has 1396 Positive Cases; with 30 new cases reported today; and 7 accumulated deaths.

The latest COVID-19 update for Minnesota shows 64 more deaths and more than 5,500 new cases.

The state has reported 391 deaths through the first six days of December.

Sunday’s update included 38 more fatal cases of residents of long-term care facilities, which have accounted for 2,637 of the 3,984 total deaths.

Among the newly reported deaths was someone aged 40-44 in Wadena County. There have been 85 COVID-19 deaths of people under the age of 50 in Minnesota.

The 5,581 positive results in Saturday’s update were from a total of 67,435 completed tests, creating a daily test positivity rate of 8.27%, which is the lowest positivity rate the state has had for some time.

Those completed tests were from 25,107 people. People are often tested more than once, so the test positivity rate when dividing positives by people tested is 22.22% today.

The World Health Organization recommended in May that a percent positive rate (total positives divided by total completed tests) of below 5% for at least two weeks is necessary to safely reopen the economy. That 5% threshold is based on total positives divided by total tests.

According to Johns Hopkins University, Minnesota’s percent positive over the past seven days is 12.02%.

Statewide:

  • Total tests: 4,559,825 (up from 4,492,421)
  • People tested: 2,643,538 (up from 2,618,431)
  • Positive cases: 350,862 (up from 345,281)
  • Deaths: 3,984 – 92 of which are “probable*” (up from 3,920)
  • Active cases: 42,644 (down from 44,200)
  • Patients no longer requiring isolation: 308,218 (up from 301,081)
