A graveside service for Jeannine C. Nelson of Roseau, MN will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Spruce Cemetery.
Jeannine passed away on December 8, 2020, at LifeCare Roseau Manor. She was 89 years old.
Jeannine Caroline Lillian Nelson was born on August 21, 1931, to Dolphis and Hannah (Pederson) Dubois of rural Wampum, Manitoba. She attended school through grade 8 at the Wampum School. She often talked about being afraid during the long walks home from school.
As a young girl, she moved to Winnipeg and lived with an aunt and uncle. She worked for Eatons in the catalog department, for Canada Meat Packers, and for the Sanitorium in Brantford, Ontario.
Jeannine met Carl G. Nelson through a mutual friend and they were married in Roseau. Soon after, she became a naturalized U.S. citizen. Carl and Jeannine built a home and they farmed in rural Roseau for many years.
Jeannine milked cows and had a huge garden. She loved taking walks through the pasture and picking berries. She also enjoyed playing card and board games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved all animals and her flowers, but most of all she loved to read. She was very strong in her faith and in her love of Jesus.
Jeannine is survived by her children, Bruce (Connie) of Roseau, Charlotte (Koert) of Steinbach, MB, and Marlin of Roseau, sister-in-law Gudrun of Naniamo, BC, and 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1985, her son, Durwin in 1989, her parents, Dolphis and Hannah, her sister, Joan, and her brothers, Allan and Edward.
