A public visitation for Elsie Lindberg of Roseau, will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October, 12, 2021 at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to the interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Wannaska on Wednesday, October 13, at 10:00 AM.
Elsie Freda Lindberg passed away on October 2, 2021 at the LifeCare Greenbush Manor in Greenbush, MN at the age of 105, where she was a resident since 2012.
Elsie was born on November 27, 1915 in Aitkin, MN to Fred and Anna (Radke) Gross. The family moved to Roseau, MN in 1919, settling in Spruce Township. Elsie attended the District 51 school in Jadis township. She had to cross the river every day to attend school.
On October 31, 1949, Elsie married Kenneth Lindberg in Roseau. Elsie loved to cook and was an excellent baker. She always put on a large spread for her company. She was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables and was still canning her produce. She was also passionate about feeding the birds and her cats.
Elsie is survived by her son, Larry Kile of Roseau; siblings, Marie Kompelien of Roseau and John (Glorianne) Gross of Aurora, MN; grandchildren Joe (Karen) Kile of Roseau and Tracy (Stephanie) Kile of Panama City, FL; nine great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth; an infant brother; brothers, Fred, Ed, and Bill; sisters, Clara Halvorson, Ella Hayes, Hattie Linert, Katie Sonsteng and Hilda Peterson; grandson, Dennis Kile, and daughter-in-law, Harriet Kile.
