THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, AT IT’S LAST MEETING OF 2021, APPROVED A SEVEN PERCENT PROPERTY TAX LEVY INCREASE FOR NEXT YEAR. THAT WILL RAISE APPROXIMATELY FIVE HUNDRED SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS OVER THE CURRENT LEVY.
AT THE SAME TIME, COMMISSIONERS APPROVED A TWENTY-SIX-POINT-SEVEN MILLION DOLLAR EXPENDITURE BUDGET FOR 2022, WHICH PROJECTS AN APPROXIMATE THREE HUNDRED SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLAR SURPLUS FOR NEXT YEAR.
THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD HAS SET COMMISSIONER SALARIES FOR 2022 AT JUST OVER TWENTY-EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS. THE COUNTY BOARD ALSO VOTED TO ELIMINATE PER DIEMS FOR COMMISSIONERS NEXT YEAR.
THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD HAS RESOLVED TO BECOME A JOINT APPLICANT WITH THE CITY OF ROSEAU AND THE ROSEAU RIVER WATERSHED DISTRICT FOR A REGIONAL PARKS AND TRAILS DESIGNATION, RELATED TO THE ROSEAU RIVER WATER TRAIL.
ROSEAU COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, THIS WEEK, APPROVED A SEVENTY-SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLAR TRUCK SCALE REPLACEMENT AT THE TRANSFER STATION. THE CURRENT SCALE HAS BEEN IN OPERATION FOR MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS.

Two Minnesota men died in an avalanche in the mountains north of Yellowstone National Park. Park County officials say a group of eight snowmobilers was riding near Scotch Bonnet Mountain north of Cooke City at mid-day Monday. One of the men got stuck on a southeast facing slope and another man was trying to help dig him out when the avalanche happened, burying the two riders. The coroner says the victims are 43-year-old Jesse Thelen of Paynesville, Minnesota, and 40-year-old Carl Thelen of St. Martin, Minnesota.
