DEPUTIES PROVIDED LIFE SAVING EFFORTS AT THE SCENE, BUT THE 19-YEAR OLD VICTIM WAS LATER PRONOUNCED DEAD AT A HOSPITAL. SO FAR, WE ONLY KNOW THAT THE SUSPECT IS A 34-YEAR OLD MALE.
ALEC BANEY, THE PROCTOR HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYER WHO SEXUALLY ASSAULTED A TEAMMATE IN WHAT WAS DESCRIBED AS “A JOKE WENT TOO FAR”, HAS PLEADED GUILTY. BANEY WILL BE DESIGNATED AS AN “EXTENDED JURISDICTION JUVENILE” MEANING HE’LL BE ON PROBATION AND HIS ADULT SENTENCE WILL BE STAYED. HE’LL LIKELY REMAIN ON PROBATION UNTIL HIS 21ST BIRTHDAY. BANEY WAS 17 AT THE TIME, BUT IS 18 NOW.
