LAST WEEK, THE HOUSE PASSED LEGISLATION TO BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS, AND END THE SALE OF SOME OF THE MOST POPULAR RIFLES IN THE COUNTRY. CONGRESSWOMAN MICHELLE FISHBACH, ON FRIDAY, SPOKE IN DEFENSE OF 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS SAYING THAT “DEMOCRATS ARE NO LONGER DISGUISING THEIR RADICAL AGENDA”…”AND THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO BAN GUNS IN THIS COUNTRY…”.

A PRIMARY ELECTION IN ROSEAU COUNTY IS ONLY DAYS AWAY, NEXT TUESDAY, AUGUST 9. THE FIELD FOR A DISTRICT 1 COUNTY COMMISSIONER WILL BE NARROWED DOWN TO TWO, FROM FIVE. THOSE ARE GLENDA PHILLIPE, DEAN BYFUGLIEN, KEVIN BRUCE, ALAN JOHNSTON, AND SHANE HORNER.

39 YEAR OLD JASON JOEY BERRY, OF MONTREAL, PLEADED GUILTY TO CONSPIRACY TO DISTRIBUTE FENTANYL AND IMPORT IT INTO THE UNITED STATES. BERRY IS CONSIDERING A RINGLEADER IN THE FENTANYL OPERATION THAT SAW THE DRUG SHIPPED FROM CHINA, THROUGH CANADA, AND INTO THE U.S. THE RING CONTRIBUTED TO 15 OVERDOES, 4 FATAL, INCLUDING THE 2015 DEATH OF AND 18 YEAR OLD IN GRAND FORKS.

WARROAD SUMMER THEATER HAS A SECOND WEEK OF SHOWS OF “THE SOUND OF MUSIC” THIS WEEK, WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY AT THE WARROAD SCHOOL THEATRE. TICKETS ARE $15 OR $13 WITH A SENIOR OF CHILD DISCOUNT.

WALZ SAYS IT’S “UNCONSCIONABLE THAT WE ARE SITTING ON MONEY IN THE BANK OF MINNESOTA AND IT COULD GO BACK TO FAMILIES RIGHT NOW”. HE SAID HE’D LIKE TO HEAR MORE FROM THE PEOPLE, AS TO WHETHER THEY THINK IT’S A GOOD IDEA.
