48-YEAR OLD CHAD ISAAK, THE MAN CONVICTED OF KILLING FOUR PEOPLE AT A BUSINESS IN MANDAN, NORTH DAKOTA WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD SUNDAY EVENING, THE CAUSE OF DEATH BEING SUICIDE. THE HIGHWAY PATROL WAS CALLED TO THE STATE PENITENTIARY FOR A REPORT OF AN INMATE WHO HARMED HIMSELF, HE WAS TRANSPORTED TO A BISMARCK HOSPITAL WHERE THE PROCLAMATION WAS MADE. THE KILLINGS TOOK PLACE IN 2019, AND HE WAS ABOUT A YEAR INTO SERVING A LIFE SENTENCE.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernard Mans of Williams will be held on Saturday, August 6 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williams at 11:00am with a visitation an hour prior. Interment will be held Monday, August 8 at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Williams. Barnard was 83.

AMERICAN CRYSTAL SUGAR UNION EMPLOYEES VOTED TO REJECT A FOUR-YEAR LABOR DEAL TO REPLACE THE FIVE YEAR DEAL THAT EXPIRES AUGUST 1 OF THIS YEAR. THE NEW AGREEMENT WOULD HAVE OFFERED A 17% PAY INCREASE OVER FOUR YEARS. REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE UNION AND COMPANY BOTH SAID THAT NO STRIKE VOTE IS IMMINENET AND THE COMPANY DOES NOT PLAN TO LOCK OUT WORKERS. THE COMPANY HAS SEVEN LOCATIONS, INCLUDING EAST GRAND FORKS, MOORHEAD, AND DRAYTON. THERE WAS A LOCKOUT THAT LASTED 22 MONTHS FROM 2011 TO 2013.
