THE INDIVIDUALS SUSPECTED OF COMMITTING THE SHOOTING AT THE MALL OF AMERICA RECENTLY WERE ARRESTED IN CHICAGO LAST WEEK. GOVERNOR WALZ, ALONG WITH ATTORNEY GENERAL KEITH ELLISON, AND HENNEPIN COUNTY ATTORNEY MIKE FREEMAN SAID WILL LOOK TO COORDINATE A SWIFT EXTRADITION OF THOSE SUSPECTS BACK TO MINNESOTA.
GOVERNOR TIM WALZ IS TEAMING WITH WISCONSIN GOVERNOR TONY EVERS, ANNOUNCING THAT THE STATES DEPARTMENTS OF TRANSPORTATION WILL SEEK $889 MILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDING TO REBUILD THE BLATNIK BRIDGE BETWEEN DULUTH AND SUPERIOR. THE FUNDS WOULD COME FROM THE BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE LAW. THAT ORIGINAL BRIDGE WAS BUILT IN 1961.
MEMBERS OF THE MINNESOTA NURSES ASSOCIATION WILL VOTE MONDAY WHETHER OR NOT TO GO ON STRIKE. THAT COULD AFFECT SOMEWHERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF 15,000 NURSES IN THE TWIN PORTS AND TWIN CITIES. MONDAY WOULD BEGIN A 10-DAY PERIOD BEFORE THEY ACTUALLY WALK OUT.
RECENTLY THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD ENTERED INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH CANADIAN NATIONAL RAILWAY FOR THE INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF RAILROAD CROSSING SIGNALS AT THE INTERSECTION OF COUNTY ROAD 140, EAST OF SWIFT. THE COUNTIES COST SHARE ON THAT PROJECT WILL BE APPROXIMATELY $220,000.
DIGI-KEY IS PREPARING FOR THE OPENING OF IT’S NEW PRODUCT DISTRIBUTION CENTER, THAT’S A $400 MILLION PROJECT THAT BEGAN IN 2017. THE GRAND OPENING IS PLANNED FOR WEDNESDAY AT THEIR HEADQUARTERS IN THIEF RIVER FALLS. THE EXPANSION MAKES DIGI-KEY ONE OF THE 10 LARGEST WAREHOUSES IN NORTH AMERICA.

A Funeral Service for Bonnie A. Grund of Williams, MN will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Pitt Community Church in Pitt, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Pitt Cemetery in Pitt, MN. Bonnie passed away at the age of 81.
MINNESOTA SAW A RECORD NUMBER OF MURDERS FOR A SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR. THE BCA REPORTED 201 MURDERS, AN ANNUAL INCREASE OF 8.5%, AND A 21% SPIKE IN VIOLENT CRIME. THE OLD RECORD WAS IN 2020 WITH 185 MURDERS, AND THAT WAS A HUGE JUMP FROM JUST 117 IN 2019.
STATE REGULATORS WILL REQUIRE FOUR MINNESOTA NATURAL GAS UTILITIES TO PAY AROUND $58 MILLION IN COSTS THEY SAW DURING SEVERE WINTER WEATHER IN 2021. THE CAUSED SEVERE PROBLEMS ON THE POWER GRID IN TEXAS, BUT SENT NATURAL GAS PRICES SOARING ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
