THEY NOTE THAT FOLLOWING NUMBERS FROM 2021 ARE STRONG ACROSS THE BOARD. THE ROSEAU MUNICIPAL LIQUOR STORE HAVING THE LARGEST INCREASE IN NET PROFIT FORM 2020 TO 2021. STORE MANAGER NIKI JOHNSON SAID SHE EXPECTS SALES TO CONTINUE TO GROW IN 2023, BUT WITH INFLATION, PROFITABILITY WILL LIKELY DECREASE.
THE MINNESOTA DNR HAS RELEASED IT’S NEW WOLF MANAGEMENT PLAN THAT SUPPORTS THE CURRENT WOLF POPULATION AND LEAVES OPEN THE POTENTIAL FOR HUNTING AND TRAPPING IF THE WOLF NUMBERS INCREASE. IT’S THE FIRST UPDATE TO THE STATE’S PLAN SINCE 2001 AND IS INTENDED TO APPLY UNTIL 2032. IT’S SOMEWHAT OF A FORMALITY AT THE TIME, BECAUSE THE STATE PLAN DOESN’T MATTER MUCH, UNTIL FEDERAL ENDANGERED STATUS IS REMOVED.
THE GRAND FORKS HERALD ALSO HAS A UNIQUE STORY ON A FAMILY SOUTH OF FERGUS FALLS THAT IS PUTTING THEIR HUNTING BLIND TO GOOD USE DURING THE OFF SEASON. THEY PARK IT NEXT TO THE ROAD AND USE IT AS A DRIVE THRU LEFSE STAND. SO FAR THIS YEAR, THEY’VE GONE THROUGH 800 POUNDS OF RUSSET POTATOES.
CONSERVATION OFFICER REPORTS FROM THE PAST WEEK NOTE THAT THE WET HEAVY SNOW WE RECEIVED MADE TRAVEL ONTO ICE DIFFICULT IN MANY LOCATIONS, BUT THE COLD WEATHER THAT HAS FOLLOWED HAS HELPED TO EASE THAT PROBLEM. A Funeral Service for Arlen Severson will be held at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau on Thursday, December 22 at 2:00pm with a visitation an hour prior.
