THERE WILL NEED TO BE A PRIMARY ELECTION ON MAY 9TH TO FILL THE DISTRICT 4 ROSEAU COUNTY COMMISSIONER SEAT, AS FOUR PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY FILED. THERE IS STILL TIME FOR MORE, AS TOMORROW IS THE FILING DEADLINE. THE TOP TWO CANDIDATES WOULD THEN MEET IN A GENERAL ELECTION ON AUGUST 8. SO FAR, BRETT CREGER, KYLE COLE, RICK JENSEN, AND KERMIT JENSEN HAD FILED.
THE WARROAD ALL-SCHOOL REUNION WILL RETURN THIS SUMMER, AFTER A COUPLE YEARS OFF DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. THE REUNION WILL TAKE PLACE ON JULY 3RD AT THE WARROAD HIGH SCHOOL. INFORMATION ON TICKETS WILL COME AT A LATER DATE.
WE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED AN ORATORY COMPETITION FOR HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS IN MINNESOTA CALLED “SPEAKING PROUDLY”, AND THE APPLICATION FOR THAT OPENS ON MARCH 1 AND ENDS APRIL 1. THE COMPETITION WILL AWARD $2000 FOR FIRST PLACE, WITH ALSO $1500 AND $1000 FOR 2ND AND 3RD. THE TOPIC FOR THE SPEECH IS “THE BLESSING OF LIBERTY”. ANOTHER NORTHERN LIGHTS CONCERT ASSOCIATION SERIES SHOW WILL TAKE PLACE THIS FRIDAY IN THE ROSEAU SCHOOL THEATER. BACKTRACK VOCALS, A 5-PERSON A CAPPELLA SINGING GROUP WILL PERFORM.
A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR SHIRLEY HORNER OF WARROAD WILL HAPPEN AT THE UNION CHURCH IN WARROAD ON THURSDAY (11 AM) WITH VISITATION AN HOUR PRIOR. INTERMENT WILL BE HELD AT RIVERSIDE CEMETERY IN WARROAD IN THE SPRING. SHIRLEY WAS 91.
