LED BY STATE SENATOR MARK JOHNSON, REPUBLICANS YESTERDAY TALKED OF $13 BILLION IN TAX CUTS AND ONE-TIME DIRECT PAYMENTS, INCLUDING REBATE CHECKS OF UP TO $2500 AND ELIMINATING SOCIAL SECURITY INCOME TAX. THERE WOULD ALSO BE A ONE-TIME CHILD TAX CREDIT AVAILABLE FOR TWO YEARS, WHICH WOULD PROVIDE AN $1800 TAX CREDIT PER CHILD UNDER AGE 18. THE SOCIAL SECURITY TAX CUT WOULD AMOUNT TO ABOUT $1200 ANNUALLY IN RELIEF FOR NEARLY 500,000 MINNESOTANS.
