ONE PERSON IS DEAD AFTER THEY WERE STRUCK BY A BOAT ON SIX LAKE, JUST SOUTHWEST OF FRAZEE. THE 911 CALL CAME IN YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, AND LIFE SAVING MEASURES WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. AUTHORITIES WOULD NOT SAY IMMEDIATELY WHAT THE PERSON WAS DOING IN THE WATER, BUT THEY HAVE DETERMINED THAT FOUL PLAY OR ALCOHOL DO NOT APPEAR TO BE A FACTOR.

AN 18 YEAR OLD IS MISSING AFTER THEIR CANOE CAPSIZED IN THE BOUNDARY WATERS CANOE AREA WILDERNESS ON WEDNESDAY. OCCURRING ON GILLIS LAKE, ANOTHER PERSON FROM THE CANOE WAS ABLE TO SWIM TO SHORE BUT DID NOT SEE HIS COMPANION RESURFACE. CREWS INDICATE THAT THE MISSING MAN IS NOW PRESUMED DEAD AND IS A RECOVERY MORE THAN A RESCUE AT THIS POINT.

33 YEAR OLD NIGEL BLACKBURN OF ST PAUL HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH SECOND-DEGREE MURDER IN THE SHOOTING OF A MAN IN DEER RIVER ON JUNE 9. THE WOMAN WHO OWNS THE HOME WHERE THE SHOOTING OCCURRED SAID SHE HAD A PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIP WITH BLACKBURN AND THAT THE VICTIM, IDENTIFIED ONLY AS JCK, HAD A ROMANTIC INTEREST IN HER. BLACKBURN WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER HE HAD RETURNED HOME AND HIS WIFE CALLED AUTHORITIES AS SHE CLAIMED HE WAS HAVING A MENTAL HEALTH EPISODE AND MAKING SUICIDAL THREATS.
