A SMALL PLANE CRASHED YESTERDAY INTO A CORNFIELD NORTHWEST OF GRAND FORKS, KILLING THE PILOT. THE CROP DUSTING PLANE HIT POWER LINES ON ITS WAY DOWN AND WRECKAGE COULD BE SEEN FROM A DISTANCE. THE CRASH IS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
A WADENA WOMAN SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES WHEN HER CAR MADE CONTACT WITH A HORSE-BUGGY ALONG HIGHWYA 10 IN ALDRICH. THE BUGGY WAS GOING WEST, THE VEHICLE EAST. THE 26 YEAR OLD WAS FROM WADENA, WHILE THE THE OCCUPANTS OF THE BUGGY, AGED 18, 17, AND 17 WERE NOT INJURED. THEY WERE ALL FROM VERNDALE.
A GRYGLA MAN WAS RECENTLY SENTENCED FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY. 64 YEAR OLD KEITH ALLEN BARSNESS WAS SENTENCED ON SEPTEMBER 1 TO 120 MONTHS IN PRISON, FOLLOWED BY 10 YEARS OF SUPERVISED RELEASE. IT DATES BACK TO LATE 2021 AND SEARCH WARRANTS THAT WERE EXECUTED IN APRIL OF 2022. UPON DISCOVERY OF THE MATERIALS, BARSNESS ADMITTED TO HAVING AND UPLOADING AND DOWNLOADING IMAGES AND THAT HE HAS DONE IT FOR YEARS. HE DID HAVE A PRIOR CONVICTION FOR THIS IN 2009.
TWO TRUCKERS HAVE HIRED A CIVIL RIGHTS ATTORNEY AFTER AN ALLEGED PROFILING EVENT A DENNY’S RESTAURANT IN SIOUX FALLS. THE TWO DRIVERS, WHO ARE BLACK, SAY THE WAITRESS INTENTIONALLY IGNORED THEM, WHILE CONTINUING TO SERVE WHITE CUSTOMERS WHO CONTINUED TO COME IN AFTER THEY HAD ALREADY CHOSEN A TABLE. WHEN THEY DID GET HER ATTENTION SHE SAID “I DON’T NEED YOU PEOPLE CALLING ME OVER TO THIS TABLE” AND PROCEEDED TO CALL THE COPS. WHEN OFFICERS ARRIVED AND QUESTIONED THE MEN, THEY APOLOGIZED FOR THEIR EXPERIENCE. THE WAITRESS HAS ALREADY BEEN LET GO BY THE RESTAURANT.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Harold J. Forpahl will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warroad at 1:00PM. Interment will happen at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Harold passed away at the age of 76.
