A RESIDENT IN GATZKE SAYS THEIR HORSE WAS SHOT IN THE LEG IN THE OVERNIGHT HOURS ON NOVEMBER 8. THE HORSE NEEDED TO BE PUT DOWN DUE TO THE INJURIES. THEY SAY THEY HEARD THREE GUN SHOTS IN THEIR HORSE PASTURE. THEY ARE ASKING THAT ANYONE WITH INFORMATION CALL THE MARSHALL COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT AT 218-745-5411. THERE IS A REWARD FOR SUCCESSFUL PROSECUTION.
THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL HAS SELECTED GARY PRZEKWAS TO SUCCEED DAVID DROWN AS THE CITY PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR. HE HAS WORKED FOR THE CITY FOR 33 YEARS. THEY INTERVIEWED A TOTAL OF THREE CANDIDATES, FROM NEARLY A DOZEN APPLICANTS.
THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA FOUNDATION HONORED SIX ORGANIZATIONS THAT SERVE OUR COMMUNITIES. THE MOST LOCAL OF THOSE WAS THE VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROJECT OUT HTIEF RIVER FALLS, AND SERVES ROSEAU, RED LAKE, PENNINGTON AND MARSHALL COUNTIES.
IN THE GRAND FORKS HERALD, BRAD DOKKEN WRITES OF A STURGEON STOCKING EFFORT IN THE RED LAKE RIVER AT CROOKSTON. THEY ARE HOPING THAT BY PLACING THEM AT A YOUNG AGE THAT THEY WOULD THEN CONTINUE TO SPAWN IN THAT AREA. THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF SPAWNING IN 2022, WHICH HAS LED TO OPTIMISM FOR THE PROGRAM. SINCE SEPTEMBER, ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THEY’VE PLACED A TOTAL OF OVER 2500 STURGEON FINGERLINGS.
