GOVERNOR WALZ ANNOUNCED MORE THAN $17 MILLION THAT WILL GO TOWARDS EIGHT DIFFERENT TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS. THE MOST LOCAL OF THOSE IS IN MAHNOMEN COUNTY WHERE THEY WILL ADD A TURN LANE ON HIGHWAY 59 NEAR A NEW BENSON AND TURNER FOODS PLANT, ALLOWING FOR IMPROVED SAFETY FOR INCREASED TRAFFIC AND SEMI-TRAILER TRUCKS.

EVERY MINNESOTA GOP CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION GAVE THEIR ENDORSEMENT TO DONALD TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT. MINNESOTA DFL CHAIRMAN KEN MARTIN RELEASED A STATEMENT SAYING THAT “REPUBLICANS UP AND DOWN THE BALLOT IN NOVEMBER WILL HAVE TO ANSWER FOR WHY THEY ARE ABANDONING MINNESOTA VALUES…”.

DECEMBER WAS 13 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL TEMPS, NOT A SINGLE DAY WAS SUB-ZERO, IT RAINED ON CHRISTMAS EVE, ONLY THE THIRD TIME IN 82 YEARS THAT DULUTH DIDN’T HAVE SNOW ON THE GROUND.

THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA ARTS COUNCIL IS NOW ACCEPTING FOR THE 2024 ANNUAL ART EXHIBIT. THEY WILL TAKE THOSE THROUGH FEBRUARY 29. THAT EXHIBIT WILL BE IN LAKE BRONSON AT THE KITTSON COUNTY HISTORY MUSEUM IN MARCH AND APRIL. THOSE ARTISTS WILL BE FROM THEIR 7 COUNTY SERVICE AREA AND COMPETE FOR $2300 IN CASH AWARDS. BOTH ADULTS AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CAN SUBMIT UP TO TWO PIECES.

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR OTTO I. LEE OF BAUDETTE WILL BE HELD THIS SATURDAY (2 PM) AT FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH IN BAUDETTE. VISITATION WILL BE FRIDAY FROM 5-7 PM. INTERMENT WILL TAKE PLACE AT ELM PARK CEMETERY IN BAUDETTE. OTTO PASSED ON DECEMBER 30 AT THE AGE OF 95.

OUT OF NORTHERN BELTRAMI COUNTY, A TRAPPER DISCOVERED A PINE MARTEN IN HIS BOBCAT SET THAT APPEARED TO BE UNRESPONSIVE. THE MAN CALLED THE DNR AND SPOKE WITH NICKOLAS PRACHAR.
