AT AN EARLY MAY ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL MEETING, AN ORDINANCE WAS ADOPTED THAT PUTS A MORATORIUM ON THE INSTALLATION OR OPERATION OF A SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEM WITHIN THE CITY OF ROSEAU BY ANY BUSINESS, PERSON, OR ENTITY. THAT WOULD REMAIN IN EFFECT AS THE CITY CONDUCTS STUDIES AND SETTLES ON REGULATIONS OR DETERMINES THAT NO REGULATIONS ARE NEEDED, OR UNTIL ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE IT WAS ENACTED.

MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAMS FOR MONDAY WILL INCLUDE A ROSEAU PROGRAM THAT BEGINS AT CITIZENS STATE BANK AT 9 AM AND WILL MARCH TO THE VETERANS MEMORIAL. A BADGER PROGRAM BEGINS AT 10 AM AT THE BADGER CREEK BRIDGE AND THEN MARCHES TO THE VETERANS MEMORIAL.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION WILL BEGIN IN EARLY JUNE ON HIGHWAY 72 IN BAUDETTE. THE STRETCH TO BE WORKED ON IS BETWEEN FIRST AVENUE AND THE CANADIAN BORDER. THERE WILL BE A SIGNED DETOUR FOR MOTORISTS. WORK IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN AUGUST.

A RESCUE SQUAD SEARCH CONTINUES FOR TWO MINNESOTA MEN WHOSE CANOE WENT OVER CURTAIN FALLS IN THE BWCA ON SATURDAY. THE MEN ARE 40 AND 41 YEARS OLD FROM LINO LAKES AND CAMBRIDGE. THE AREA IS WIDELY CONSIDERED DANGEROUS AND MOST DECIDE TO USE A LAND PORTAGE TO CARRY THEIR CANOES AROUND THE FALLS.

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD MET IN REGULAR SESSION LAST NIGHT WITH SOME ITEMS FROM THE AGENDA INCLUDING THE FILLING OF AN ELEMENTARY MUSIC OPENING, AND AN OPENING IN THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT.
THEY WERE TO HEAR UPDATES ON GRADUATION CEREMONIES, SENIOR AWARDS, AND THE TRIP THAT WAS TAKEN FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETES.
THERE WAS ALSO TO BE RECOGNITION GIVEN TO JAMES BAGLIEN, JAKE GLODOWSKI AND WYLIE MARSEN WHO FINISHED 1-2-3 IN A MN HISTORY COMPETITION.
