THERE’S GOOD NEWS FOR BUSINESS AT THE NORTHWEST ANGLE AS FLAG ISLAND RESORT HAS REOPENED FOR BUSINESS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP. THE OWNERS OF CYRUS RESORT ON THE SOUTH END OF LAKE OF THE WOODS HAS PURCHASED THAT PROPERTY AND WILL OPERATE UNDER THE NAME CYRUS FLAG ISLAND RESORT.

IN BENTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA HAS IT’S FIRST DAIRY HERD TO TEST POSITIVE FOR AVIAN INFLUENZA. WITH IT ALREADY SHOWING UP IN NEIGHBORING STATES, AND A TOTAL OF 11, A STATE VETERINARIAN SAID HE KNEW IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. THE AVIAN FLU STILL PRESENTS LITTLE TO NO RISK TO HUMANS AND PASTEURIZED MILK WOULD STILL REMAIN SAFE TO CONSUME. POULTRY CASES ALSO CONTINUE TO CLIMB IN THE LAST 30 DAYS.

A CITY OF ROSEAU DOG PARK IS NOW OPEN AND READY FOR USE. THE PARK HAS TWO AREAS, ONE FOR LARGER DOGS AND ANOTHER FOR SMALLER DOGS. THERE IS NO COST AND USERS ARE REMINDED TO CLEAN UP AFTER THEIR PETS. THE PARK IS LOCATED ACROSS AND JUST SOUTH FROM THE CITY PARK.

WE’VE BEEN INFORMED THAT RONNIE NOVACEK, A LOCAL FARMER AND FORMER RACER, HAS PURCHASED THE GREENBUSH RACE PARK AND HOPES TO HAVE IT UP AND RUNNING AT SOME POINT THIS SUMMER. JAMIE “TRAPPER” SOVDE WILL BE MANAGING THE FACILITY.

TOMORROW IS A COMMUNITY WIDE RUMMAGE SALE IN GREENBUSH. THEIR MAP HAS 17 DIFFERENT SALE LOCATIONS MARKED.

THE LIVE MUSICAL PERFORMANCES AT ROSEAU’S RIVERVIEW PARK GAZEBO RETURN FOR THE SUMMER BEGINNING THURSDAY NEXT WEEK. THE FIRST TO PERFORM IS “TOO OLD TO STAND”, WHO COVER EVERYTHING FROM TOP 40 TO BLUES, COUNTRY, AND CLASSIC ROCK. THE FOLLOWING WEEK IS “DIVAS GONE COUNTRY”.

THE GREENBUSH-BADGER LIONS WILL SERVE A PANCAKE BENEFIT BREAKFAST TO ASSIST THE FAMILY OF BRIAN AND MARY WILLIAMSON AFTER A TRAGIC FIRE IN LATE APRIL. THE BENEFIT IS JUNE 9 AT THE GREENBUSH COMMUNITY CENTER FROM 9:00-1:00.

A BENEFIT FOR RODNEY BOUTAIN IS THIS EVENING IN GOODRIDGE AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER. THEY’LL HAVE A FREEWILL OFFERING MEAL AT 4:30 WITH AUCTION ITEMS AVAILABLE. PROCEEDS HELP WITH MEDICAL EXPENSES FROM A CANCER DIAGNOSIS.

A Funeral Service for Jean Johnson of Warroad will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Warroad Union Church in Warroad at 11:00 am with a visitation an hour prior. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Warroad.

BEGINNING MONDAY, KIDS ARE INVITED FOR ART IN THE PARK FROM 10:00-NOON. AT THE ROSEAU CITY PARK, THERE WILL BE A FEATURED CRAFTING PROJECT FOR KIDS. THERE IS NO COST.
ON TUESDAY, IT WILL BE THE SECOND SUMMER EXPLORERS EVENT AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY MUSEUM. ONCE AGAIN, A FREE EVENT FOR KIDS TO COME AND USE THEIR CREATIVITY ON SOME PLANNED PROJECTS. THOSE BEGIN AT 10:30.
