A funeral service for LuAnn F. Holwell will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 5 pm at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A family service and interment will be on Tuesday, June 18, at 10 am at Moe-Rose cemetery of Roseau.

LuAnn passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the age of 80.

LuAnn Johnson Holwell was born March 14, 1944 to Albin and Mabel (Magnuson) Roseen in Roseau, MN. She grew up in Malung and attended Roseau High School graduating in 1962.

LuAnn married Lowell Johnson on December 26, 1962. They lived in the state of Washington for a short time, and in Thief River Falls, MN, where daughter Darci was born. They then lived in Lino Lakes, MN and moved back to Roseau in 1976. LuAnn and Lowell started Johnson Construction, which later became Johnson Markstrom Construction. LuAnn was a stay-at-home mom who also did bookkeeping for the companies for 25 yrs. LuAnn was very talented, designing and decorating several homes she and Lowell built over the years. LuAnn and Lowell also had a lake cabin at Sandy Shores, which they enjoyed very much with Darci and the grandchildren.

On February 23, 2007 LuAnn married Randy Holwell after the passing of both of their spouses. They lived in Roseau until retirement. At that time, they bought a home in The Villages, FL. They spent two winters remodeling, furnishing and decorating this home that LuAnn loved very much. She spent hours every day watching small animals and birds of every size on the lake or in the yard. In the spring it was back to Roseau for the summer.

LuAnn was preceded in death by her husband Lowell Johnson; parents; infant brother Floyd; Sister Doris Norquist; Brothers LeRoy and Kermit Roseen; several in-laws and three nephews.

Luann is survived by husband Randy; daughter Darci Johnson (Don Sourdif); stepson Sean (Jessica) Holwell; grandchildren Cody (Melanie) Hites, Kyler (Tianna) Hites, Dylan (Maddie Nix) Hites, Nathan (Molly) Puttbrese, Courtney (Ryan Turner) Erickson; great-grandchildren McKenna, Wesley & Octavia Hites and many nieces and nephews; siblings Deloris Schmock, Mertrice Cole and Wayne (Joanne) Roseen; sisters-in-law Barb Roseen, Linda (Doug) Hedlund, and Barbara (Darrell) Erickson; and brothers-in-law Gary (Jane) Johnson and Warren (Hazel) Johnson.
