AFTER THE FILING DEADLINE PASSED LAST WEEK, WE HAVE LEARNED THAT THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE HAVE FILED FOR VARIOUS POSITIONS UP FOR ELECTION THIS NOVEMBER:
ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD: VONDA DANIELSON, MICKY HULST, AND THOR DIDRICKSON ARE ALL INCUMBENTS. KAVAN LOVGREN, DAVID SIMMONS, NEAL VATNSDAL, JASON CUMMINGS, TRACI KETRING, AND KREG KENNEDY ALSO FILED FOR THREE OPEN SPOTS.
ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL: INCUMBENT PAT NOVACEK WILL RUN, INCUMBENT MARY HAYES WILL NOT. JENNIFER LOVGREN, OLIVER ULLMAN, AND KEITH SEVERSON HAVE ALSO FILED FOR THE TWO OPEN SPOTS.
ROSEAU MAYOR DAN FABIAN WILL BE UNOPPOSED.
THE ROSEAU TIMES REGION ALSO HAD NOTES FROM ROSEAU SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT LOOKING FORWARD TO A NOVEMBER VOTE ON AN OPERATING REFERENDUM. THERE WILL BE A VOTE THAT WOULD TAKE THAT AMOUNT FROM $226 PER PUPIL TO $1050 PER PUPIL.
A ROSEAU SCHOOL K-12 OPEN HOUSE WILL TAKE PLACE AUGUST 28 FROM 5-7:30 PM. MEET YOUR TEACHERS, SEE YOUR CLASSROOM, VISIT WITH ADMINISTRATION, TRANSPORATION AND FOOD SERVICE DIRECTORS, AND SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS. THEY’LL SERVE FREE ICE CREAM SUNDAES AS WELL.
SOME AREA ROAD RESURFACING PROJECTS WILL BEGIN MONDAY. THERE WILL BE WORK DONE ON HIGHWAY 11 IN KARLSTAD, HIGHWAY 172 FROM BAUDETTE TO WHEELER’S POINT, HIGHWAY 59 FROM KARLSTAD TO LAKE BRONSON, AND HIGHWAY 175 FROM THE DAKOTA BORDER TO HIGHWAY 75. THERE WILL SOME LANE CLOSURES AND FLAGGERS TO DIRECT TRAFFIC.
