THE UNION REPRESENTING ROUGHLY 60% OF ALL OF DULUTH’S MUNICIPAL WORKERS HAS VOTED TO AUTHORIZE A STRIKE IF CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE TO STALL. THEY LAST MET IN LATE NOVEMBER. THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN A PROPOSAL THAT WOULD RAISE PAY BY 6% OVER THREE YEARS, BUT ARE LOOKING FOR 8%-12%.

THE HOLIDAY TRAIN WILL BE MAKING IT’S CLOSEST STOPS THIS SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15 IN PLUMMER AND THIEF RIVER FALLS. THE PLUMMER STOP SHOULD BE AROUND 6:15 PM AND THE THIEF RIVER FALLS STOP AROUND 7:45 PM. THE TRAIN, DECORATED IN HOLIDAY LIGHTS FEATURES A LIVE BAND THAT PERFORMS AT EACH STOP. THEY ALSO BRING DONATIONS TO FOOD SHELVES AND ENCOURAGE ATTENDEES TO DONATE AN ITEM OR TWO ALSO.
A MASTER PLAN FOR “NORTHERLY PARK”, A NEW PROPOSED PARK AT THE NORTHWEST ANGLE HAS BEEN APPROVED AND THEY WILL NOW SEEK GRANT FUNDING. IT’LL BE SITUATED ON 160 ACRES OF COUNTY OWNED LAND AND WOULD INCLUDE PROPOSED AMENITIES SUCH AS A PLAYGROUND, FLOATING DOCK, PAVED AND GRAVEL TRAILS, A BOARDWALK, CANOE AND KAYAK LAUNCH, VIEWING TOWER, AND VISITOR’S CENTER. THEY ARE HOPING SOME CONSTRUCTION COULD BEGIN IN 2026, USING A PHASED IN APPROACH.
Celebration of Life for Chris Nieman of Warroad, MNN will be Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Warroad Area Community Center in Warroad from 3:00 – 5:00 pm.
She passed away at the age of 74.
A Funeral Service for Ruby Norstebon of Roseau, MN will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 11:00AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Moe-Rose Cemetery in Roseau, MN.
Ruby passed away at the age of 96.
Kraig Lee, 70 of Wannaska, MN passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau from 5-7 pm with a Prayer Service at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Riverside Lutheran Church in Wannaska at 10 am with visitation one hr prior.
A funeral service for Bruce A. Chapman of Baudette, MN will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Baudette, Minnesota. Refreshments will be served following the service.
Bruce passed away at the age of 85.
