A RECENT MEETING BETWEEN LOCAL LEADERS AND CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION DID NOT GO WELL ACCORDING TO ROSEAU MAYOR JEFF PELOWSKI. HE CALLED THE MEETING “A WASTE OF TIME” AT MONDAY’S CITY COUNCIL MEETING. CONGRESSMAN COLIN PETERSON IS LOOKING TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUE IN WASHINGTON DC, TO FIND FUNDING FOR THE NORTHERN BORDER CROSSING TO FUND THE HOURS. THERE IS A TENTATIVE MEETING SET FOR TUESDAY, WITH PELOWSKI, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR TODD PETERSON, AND MEMBERS FROM THE CANADIAN SIDE PLANNING TO ATTEND.

THE ANNUAL TOUR OF THE CITY IS PLANNED FOR MAY 20TH. THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MAY HAS BEEN MOVED TO MAY 20TH, FROM MAY 27TH, WHICH IS MEMORIAL DAY.

AN INFORMATIONAL MEETING ON WHAT IS CURRENTLY BEING DISCUSSED AS OPTIONS FOR THE ROSEAU SCHOOL RENOVATION OR BUILDING IS MONDAY AT THE FOUR SEASONS CENTER IN ROSEAU. THE MEETING STARTS AT 2:00 AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC IS INVITED TO ATTEND AND GIVE THEIR FEEDBACK.

THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) ANNOUNCED $5.9 MILLION DOLLARS IN FEDERAL FUNDING TO MINNKOTA POWER COMPANY FOR REPAIRS TO THE ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM IN NORTHWEST MINNESOTA. THAT IS RELATED TO DAMAGE OCCURRED DURING SEVERE STORMS, TORNADOES, AND FLOODING BETWEEN JUNE 15 AND JULY 12 OF 2018.

A GRAND FORKS HERALD REPORT SAYS THE GREENBUSH/ MIDDLE RIVER SCHOOL BOARD HAS DENIED A PETITION FROM LANDOWNERS TO ANNEX THEIR PROPERTY OUT OF THE G/MR DISTRICT. ABOUT 400 PEOPLE SIGNED A PETITION, WITH A GOAL OF SHIFTING THEIR PROPERTY TO THE MARSHALL COUNTY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT.THE GROUP PLANS TO SEEK A VOTE AT A SCHOOL BOARD MEETING NEXT WEEK.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR STEVEN STRAND OF BUADETTE WILL BE HELD MONDAY (2 PM) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN BAUDETTE. STEVEN STRAND WAS 64.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR BEVERLY CLASEN OF ROSEAU WILL BE HELD TOMORROW (11 AM) AT ROSE FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF ROSEAU. VISITATION IS THIS EVENING (5-7) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU, AND ALSO ONE HOUR PRIOR TO TOMORROW’S SERVICE. INTERMENT WILL BE AT MOE-ROSE CEMETERY AT A LATER DATE. BEV CLASEN WAS 81.

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID CLASSES ARE APRIL 16TH AT SEVEN CLANS CASINO IN WARROAD;  AND APRIL 29THAT LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER IN ROSEAU. THEY’RE FREE CLASSES,  BUT CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED TO THIRTY PARTICIPANTS.

THE NORTHERN LIGHTS CONCERT ASSOCIATION SERIES CONTINUES SATURDAY EVENING WITH AN APPEARANCE BY THE JERSEY TENORS. BRIAN NOONAN SAYS THE AUDIENCE REACTION TO THEIR TOUR HAS CROSSED DEMOGRAPHIC LINES …. THOSE NORTHERN LIGHTS SHOW ARE AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL THEATRE.

A ROSEAU DUCKS UNLIMITED BANQUET IS THIS EVENING AT GENE’S IN ROSEAU.

THE BADGER AREA COMMUNITY FUND SPONSORS A MARDI GRAS DINNER,  RAFFLE AND DANCE SATURDAY EVENING; TO HELP FUND A GAZEBO.
