A Visitation for Alida Kompelien of Roseau, MN will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 from 2-4 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Alida passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the age of 90.
Alida Marie Kompelien was born on July 15, 1928 to Oscar and Tilda (Halvorson) Austinson in Wampum, Manitoba, Canada. She grew up in the Lutheran faith. At a young age she had several jobs to help with family finances. Alida had TB in her spine when she was a teen, which resulted in a lot of hospital stays.
She and Gordon Kompelien were married on April 27, 1963 in Pinecreek, MN. After marriage she became a housewife, taking care of their home and garden. She loved flowers and gardening. They also had cattle that she helped with.
Alida was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gordon in 2001; siblings Harry, Martin, Melvin, Albert, Emma, Rudolph, Helmer and Annie. She is survived by Kim and Debbie Kompelien of Roseau, MN (who were like her own children); sister Caroline Beaudry of Winnipeg, MB; several nieces and nephews.
