Beautiful Beatrice, cherished daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025 at the Warroad Senior Living Center, Warroad Minnesota.

Beatrice was born December 3, 1932 in a log cabin in Cedar Bend Township, south of Warroad, Minnesota. She had a very happy, adventurous childhood with her loving mother, Minnie Ohlin Weisenhaus and father, Otto Weisenhaus along with siblings Duane Weisenhaus, Roger Weisenhaus, Dennis Fish, and Marlene Fish Roland.

Beatrice was a 1950 graduate of her much loved Warroad High School. While an art student at Warroad, her art teacher was asked by Marvin Window Company to recommend a student to draw illustrations of future window designs.  Since Beatrice was known for her superior artistic abilities, she was selected. Beatrice drew an octagon shaped window, and her design was selected as the winner! Her design was much appreciated by Marvin Windows so Beatrice was paid for her work.

After graduating from Warroad, she moved to Chicago. While at a party, she met the love of her life, Donald Irwin McBride. After a whirlwind courtship, they were married on September 11, 1954.  They began their adventurous, eclectic, family-driven, purposeful, fun lives together. At the center of their lives were their five children: Vicki, Dianne, Kathy, Linda, and Michael.

Beatrice had many interests. Number one was the love shared with her husband Donald. Together, they gave much love to their children. Beatrice also flourished in friendships, helping others and learning new things.  Beatrice thoroughly enjoyed singing and artwork, always with an eye toward beautifying the world around her. Some of her homes, and even two of her daughter’s homes, were graced with murals she painted on the walls, even including a tropical mermaid scene by the jacuzzi in the bathroom!  For fun she enjoyed playing cards and dancing. She was an excellent cook that her family greatly appreciated.

Beatrice had many jobs. Her first one was a waitress at Pete Harder‘s Mobil Gas Station lunch counter in Warroad around 1949. She also was a long distance telephone operator in Minneapolis. Always wanting to make life, fun and better, she became the most favorite Girl Scout leader ever! Being the good cook that she was, she and her husband operated two restaurants, Morning Dove Cafe in 1970 Roosevelt, Minnesota, and McBride Restaurant in 1971 in Warroad, Minnesota.

Beatrice also worked at Marvin Windows & Doors in Warroad Minnesota. She and her husband, in about 1978, were the first husband and wife truck driving team for Marvin windows. She was always so proud of that achievement!

After raising her five children, Beatrice began her nursing career. Her first job was as a nurses aide in a nursing home. She went on to become a nurse technician, then LPN. Later, with her mother Minnie in the audience at graduation, she received her RN degree. She also made many, many friendships among her coworker Nurses.

Known for her cheerfulness, kindness, moral clarity, and fun loving disposition, Beatrice will be sorely missed by all of those whose lives she touched, including her immediate and extended family, friends and neighbors.

Beatrice is survived by her children, Dianne (Reginald) Eisele of Williams, MN, Kathleen McBride of Bemidji, MN, Linda McBride of Boynton Beach, FL, and daughter-in-law Sheryl Rutz (Jeff) Grelyak of Romona, CA. Also her brother, Duane Barton Sr (Patricia) Weisenhaus of Mauston, WI, sister Marlene (Ken) Roland of Hillsboro, ND and brother-in-law Wayne R. (Dorleen) McBride, twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Donald McBride, her brother Roger Weisenhaus, her brother Dennis Fish, a granddaughter Norma Jean (Eisele) Lichtsinn, a great-granddaughter Leigh Eisele, her daughter Vicki McBride, and her son, Michael McBride.
