A PUBLIC Memorial Visitation for Dale K. Wilmer of Roosevelt will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 6-8PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad, MN, with a prayer service at 7:00PM.
Dale Kenneth Wilmer passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau on June 20, 2021 at the age of 81.
Dale was born May 30, 1940 to Axel and Alice Wilmer on the family farm in Williams, MN. He was united in marriage to Margaret Sorrels on December 29, 1962, to this union came five children. Dale was a very hard worker and held many jobs throughout his life including: farmer, gravedigger, carpenter, postmaster, mailman, mowed for the City of Roosevelt, caretaker for the Roosevelt ice rink and election judge. He raised cattle for most of his life which brought him great joy especially when the new calves would arrive in the spring. There always seemed to be a new calf in the basement of the house for the first few days of its life. Dale loved playing fastpitch softball, playing cards, staying active and spending time with his family. He was raised in the Assemblies of God church and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandpa and will be greatly missed.
Dale is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret, children and families, Dan & Tammy (Brittany, Megan & Logan), Dave & Jenifer (Justin & McKena), Deb & Scott (Jonathan & Jacob), Ken & Katie (Bennett & Asher), Kay (Jordan, Brady & Corey), great grandchildren Mason & Kinzli (Brittany). Preceded in death by his parents, Axel and Alice, sisters Elaine and Verna, brother Lloyd, and in-laws Elmo & Alcia Sorrels.
