Delores Mae Taus of rural Strathcona passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the age of 89. Delores was born July 23, 1935 in Greenbush Minnesota to Frank and Verna (Johnson) Kalinowski. Delores was married to Leroy Taus on August 18, 1956 in Greenbush.
Delores grew up on the family farm west of Greenbush helping with the daily chores of a dairy farm, milking cows, haying, picking rocks, which led to about a half mile rock fence. She also helped in the big family garden weeding, harvesting, and canning the bounty from the garden. She graduated from High School in Greenbush in 1954 and attended a teaching academy.
Delores married LeRoy Taus on August 18, 1956 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenbush. Over the years Delores worked at various jobs including picking potatoes, planting trees for the Wannaska Forestry, working at Rosco in Roseau, raising her family, gardening and canning from her garden. She worked for over 20 years at REM in Roseau caring for the residents. After retiring from REM she went to work each spring for Honker Flats Greenhouse helping to plant and transplant flowers and vegetables.
Delores enjoyed gardening, fishing, cross-stitch, embroidery, berry picking, sewing, reading, puzzles, puzzle books, baking, making jam or jelly, making syrup, and cooking for the family. She was very active in the Benwood Community making the stuffing for the annual fall dinner each year.
Delores was preceded in death by her Husband LeRoy, Sisters Lorraine (Rudy), Alice, and the twins Betty and Barabra, Brothers Harry, Ralph and Jonathan (stillborn), her parents, several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.
She is survived by her children Veronica (Michael) Gerdes – Badger, LeRoy Jr. – Roseau, Pamela Erickson – St Cloud, and Elizabeth Foss – Roseau. 7 – Grandchildren, Jeremiah (Stacy) of Hawley, Nicholas (Maren) of New Ulm and Adam (Krystle) Gerdes of Owatonna, Joni (Steve) Weissenfluh of St. Cloud, Derek Erickson of St. Cloud, Andrew Foss of Badger and Pierce (Hannah) Foss of Arizona. 15 Great Grandchildren Derian, Dustin, Lily, Addison, Isaac, Evelyn, Owen Gerdes. Ahaleiciah (Dustin) Kantor-Weissenfluh, Haily, Elledy Weissenfluh, Savannah Ravnick-Erickson, Heath and Harley Ravnick, Hartley and Emma Foss. One Great-Great Granddaughter Aria Kantor-Weissenfluh.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Delores M. Taus will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush, MN. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush from 5-7PM with a Rosary Service starting at 6:40 PM followed by a 7:00 PM prayer service. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Monday, Interment will take place at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Strathcona, MN.
