A Mass of Christian burial for Edwina M. Lasneski of Roseau, MN will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 11:00AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 5-7PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. There will be a Rosery service at the funeral home before visitation beginning at 4:30PM. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Roseau, MN.
Edwina Marie Lasneski was born on December 18, 1937 to Edward and Anna (Hanson) Lussier in Red Lake, MN. Edwina grew up in Red Lake graduating in 1955. She married Eugene Lasneski in 1956 and they were blessed with eight children. The family moved to Greenbush, MN before settling in Roseau in 1971. Edwina was a very hard worker and worked various places including the Guest House, Marvins and Earl’s Drive-In where she became famous for her potato salad. Edwina also worked at the REM home in Roseau retiring from there in 2001.
Outside of work Edwina enjoyed playing cards and games. She was an avid reader and built herself an impressive collection over the years. She was a gardener and canner, she was a fantastic baker and cook. Most of all Edwina found enjoyment in having family around. She loved sharing and making memories with family and friends. She was a very sweet, generous and caring lady and did a wonderful job raising and caring for her family. She made the world a brighter, better place.
Edwina was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseau and the VFW Auxiliary.
Edwina was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; son, Eugene E. Lasneski; her parents, Edward and Anna Lussier; sisters Sarah, Margaret and Gaylen; brothers Charles, Edward Jr and Herman.
She is survived by her children, Donna (Curtis) Haugen, Janice Foss, Greg (Lori) Lasneski, Dale (Lesa) Lasneski, Shirley (Brent) Griffin, Sharon (Larry) Wellen, Carol Winger; grandchildren, Sarah Foss, Brian Foss, Andrea Wichner, Emily Lasneski, Amanda Lasneski, Daniel Griffin, Jessie Griffin, Adam Griffin, Laura Kasprowicz, Riley Winger; 21 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and her sister Adelma Oakgrove.
We had the best Mom, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. We will miss her dearly. Her memory will live on in our grateful hearts and in all who loved her.
