THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL, LAST WEEK, HEARD THAT AN APPROACH LIGHTING PROJECT AT THE ROSEAU MUNICIPAL AIRPORT WILL LIKELY COST UPWARDS OF A MILLION DOLLARS.
THE ORIGINAL BUDGET ESTIMATE WAS AROUND SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS.
THAT WOULD NEARLY DOUBLE THE LOCAL SHARE OF THE COST.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR TODD PETERSON TOLD THE COUNCIL “IF WE DON’T DO THIS, ALL THE OTHER AIRPORT WORK HAS BEEN FOR NOTHING”.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD MEETS MONDAY EVENING.
THE BOARD, THIS WEEK, HELD A WORK SESSION TO CONSIDER NEXT STEPS IN THEIR PROPOSED FACILITIES IMPROVEMENT PROJECT.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, THIS WEEK, APPROVED THE SALE OF TWO TAX-FORFEITED BUILDING LOTS TO THE CITY OF ROSEAU. THOSE LOTS, ON 5TH AVENUE NORTHEAST AND ON EAST CENTER STREET, WILL BE USED FOR CONSTRUCTION OF NEW HOMES BY A ROSEAU SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION CLASS OVER THE NEXT TWO YEARS.

 

THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE IS EXTENDING A DEADLINE TO FILE CROP ACREAGE REPORTS TO JULY 22ND, FOR MINNESOTA AG PRODUCERS AFFECTED BY FLOODING THIS SPRING AND SUMMER.

GRANDSTAND ENTERTAINMENT THIS YEAR INCLUDES THE COMEDY DUO WILLIAMS AND REE, WHO’LL APPEAR AT THE ROSEAU FAIR FOR A THIRD TIME.

 

MINNESOTA D.N.R. FORESTRY SAYS ROADS IN THE LOST RIVER STATE FOREST (NORTHEAST OF ROSEAU) ARE CLOSED UNTIL RECENT FLOODWATERS RECEDE.

 

SIX ROSEAU COUNTY RESIDENTS WILL UNDERGO A SERIES OF RABIES SHOTS, AFTER BEING EXPOSED TO A RABID BABY FOX.
RABIES WAS CONFIRMED IN THE FOX LAST FRIDAY (July 5).
THE MINNESOTA BOARD OF ANIMAL HEALTH IS ALSO RECOMMENDING THREE DOGS BE QUARANTINED FOR SIX MONTHS, DUE TO CONTACT WITH A POTENTIALLY RABID SKUNK.
THE BABY FOX APPARENTLY BIT A WOMAN WHO HAD PUT IT IN A KENNEL IN NORTHERN ROSEAU COUNTY.

 

ROSEAU NATIVE AMANDA FREDERICKSON AND SEVERAL CLASSMATES FROM CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK WILL BE AT THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER MONDAY EVENING (5:30-8:30 PM) WITH AN INTERACTIVE THEATRE WORKSHOP CALLED THE DEFROST PROJECT.
