POLARIS INDUSTRIES WILL AGAIN SPONSOR A SUMMER FIREWORKS DISPLAY IN ROSEAU. THE COMPANY HAD SPONSORED FIREWORKS IN PREVIOUS YEARS ON THE LAST NIGHT OF THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIR,  BUT THE FAIR IS CANCELLED THIS YEAR DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. A FIREWORKS SHOW WILL NOW BE AUGUST  15TH IN ROSEAU AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY  FAIRGROUNDS.

THE PERSONAL FINANCE  WEBSITE  WalletHub  SAYS MINNESOTA AND NORTH DAKOTA ARE THE FIFTH AND SIXTH STATES WITH THE LEAST AT-RISK YOUTH;  BEHIND  UTAH,  NEW JERSEY,  MASSACHUSETTS AND NEW HAMPSHIRE. THAT’S BASED ON THE NUMBER OF DISCONNECTED YOUTH AND THE YOUTH POVERTY RATE,  AMONG OTHER THINGS. THE STATES WITH THE MOST AT-RISK YOUTH,  ACCORDING TO THE REPORT,  ARE  LOUISANA, ARKANSAS AND ALASKA.

MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR DANIEL  KIMBROUGH OF MICHGAN  (AND FORMERLY OF ROOSEVELT)  ARE TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT TWO  AT  THE ROOSEVELT AMERICAN LEGION HALL. DANIEL KIMBROUGH WAS  53.

AN OUTDOOR CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE OF LINDA  DALE OF WARROAD IS TOMORROW AFTERNOON STARTING AT  1:30 AT RONNIE  AND LINDA DALE’S WARROAD HOME.   VISITATION STARTS AT ONE. ANOTHER CELEBRATION IS JULY  25TH AT EMBARRASS,  MINNESOTA. LINDA DALE WAS  67.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  APPROVED  L.E.D.  LIGHTING FOR THE COURTHOUSE CLOCK. THREE OF THE FOUR LIGHTS FOR THAT CLOCK ARE CURRENTLY OUT.

BADGER SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT KEVIN RICKE RECENTLY SAID HE’S HOPING FOR LOCAL CONTROL OF ANY DECISION WHETHER TO RE-OPEN SCHOOLS THIS FALL.

RICKE SAYS ONE OF THE CHALLENGES WILL BE MAINTAINING PROPER DISTANCING PROTOCOLS ON SCHOOL BUSSES. MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ HAS SAID HE’LL ANNOUNCE A DECISION ON HOW SCHOOL MIGHT BE OFFERED LATER THIS MONTH.

AN ANNUAL WALK AND RUN TO BENEFIT  A.L.S. RESEARCH IS TOMORROW IN ROSEAU,  BUT WILL BE DONE VIRTUALLY DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC. JANE EVANS IS ONE OF THE ORGANIZERS OF THE EVENT,  WHICH HAS BEEN HELD FOR TWENTY YEARS.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  LAST WEEK,  HEARD THAT GUARDIAN FLIGHT WILL NOT RENEW IT’S CONTRACT FOR FUEL SYSTEM MANAGEMENT AT THE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT,  MEANING THE CITY OF ROSEAU WILL HAVE TO TAKE ON THAT ROLE. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR TODD PETERSON SAYS REGULAR TESTING REQUIREMENTS WILL BE THE BIGGEST HURDLE FOR THE CITY.

A PRIVATE FAMILY CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR LORRAINE  HILL OF WARROAD WILL BE HELD. LORRAINE  HILL  WAS  97.

MEMORIAL SERVICES ARE PENDING FOR HARLAN  KNIGHT OF WARROAD.

23 YEAR OLD SAVANNAH  GISLASON OF GRAND FORKS WAS TAKEN TO LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER WITH NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES AFTER A SINGLE VEHICLE ROLLOVER LATE YESTERDAY MORNING ON HIGHWAY ELEVEN,  WEST OF GREENBUSH.  A PASSENGER IN THE CAR,  20 YEAR OLD KATELYNN KAZMIERCZAK OF GRAND FORKS,  WAS NOT HURT.

60 YEAR OLD KEITH PERRAULT OF EVELETH WAS KILLED IN A MOTORCYCLE CRASH ON  HIGHWAY 53 SOUTH OF EVELETH YESTERDAY EVENING.   PERRAULT APPARENTLY LOST CONTROL OF THE MOTORCYCLE AND ROLLED;  HE WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET.

A GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR A FORTY MILLION DOLLAR ROSEAU SCHOOL RENOVATION PROJECT WAS HELD YESTERDAY.   SUPERINTENDENT TOM JEROME SAID THERE WAS  “ONE PURPOSE”  IN THE PROJECT –  “TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS”.       ROSEAU MAYOR JEFF PELOWSKI CALLED IT A  “GREAT DAY FOR OUR COMMUNITY” AND SAID A  “TRANSPARENT PROCESS WAS CRITICAL”  FOR PASSAGE OF A VOTER REFERENDUM  (IN WHICH 75% OF DISTRICT VOTERS APPROVED SPENDING THE MONEY).     POLARIS PLANT DIRECTOR NATHAN HANSON NOTED SIXTY-SIX YEARS OF A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN POLARIS AND THE SCHOOL. ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD CHAIR PETE KVIEN TURNED THE FIRST SHOVEL. THE PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED BY THE FALL OF  2022.
