THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA ARTS COUNCIL IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FROM ARTISTS FOR IT’S INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS GRANT AND QUICK TURN AROUND GRANT PROGRAMS. THE GRANTS ARE $1,500 EACH AND AWARDED TO PERFORMERS, WRITERS, AND ARTISTS IN THE COUNCIL’S SEVEN-COUNTY REGION. THE DEADLINE IS MONDAY.
THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD AUTHORIZED SHERIFF STEVE GUST TO ADVERTISE TO HIRE FOUR ADDITIONAL JAILER/DISPATCHERS. THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS HAS TOLD THE COUNTY TO INCREASE STAFFING AT IT’S JAIL.
A REMINDER THAT SECOND HALF TAXES ON FARM CLASSIFICATIONS AND MOBILE ARE DUE BY NOVEMBER 15TH AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY TREASURER’S OFFICE OR PAID ONLINE.

THREE MEN, TWO FROM OAK GROVE AND ANOTHER FROM ELK RIVER, MINNESOTA, HAVE BEEN CHARGED IN THE LARGE OVER-LIMIT BUST LAST SUNDAY, FISHING ON LAKE OF THE WOODS. THE GROUP IN TOTAL WAS 48 WALLEYE AND SUAGER OVER LIMIT. THE THREE WILL APPEAR IN COURT AND AT TEH VERY LEAST HAVE TO PAY RESITUTION OF $30 PER FISH. THE CONFISCATED FISH WERE DONATED TO THE WARROAD SENIOR LIVING FACILITY FOR USE IN THEIR KITCHEN.
A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR WADE H. ELLENSON OF WARROAD WILL BE HELD MONDAY (2 PM) AT WARROAD BAPTIST CHURCH. VISITATION WILL BE SUNDAY (5-7) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN WARROAD AND ALSO ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE SERVICE. INTERMENT WILL BE HELD AT GOOD SHEPARD CEMETERY AT THE NORTHWEST ANGLE. WADE ELLENSON WAS 47.
A MINNESOTA SCHOOL STAFF MEMBER WAS AMONG THE 43 NEW COVID-19 RELATED DEATHS THAT WAS REPORTED IN THE STATE YESTERDAY. THAT MAKES THE 8TH STAFF MEMBER HAS DIED FROM COVID SINCE THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.
DOCTORS SAY THEY EXPECT 31 YEAR OLD CODY LANDRUS, THE MAN SHOT IN THE HEAD IN OKLEE EARLY THIS WEEK, TO SURVIVE BUT FEAR PARALYSIS. LANDRUS WAS SHOT JUST ABOVE HIS EYE AT CLOSE RANGE BY OLIVER BERHOW, WHO DROVE FROM FERTILE SPECIFICALLY TO CARRY OUT THE ASSAULT. THE DISPUTE SEEMS TO REVOLVE AROUND THE FACT THAT BERHOW BELIEVED LANDRUS HAD STOLEN GUNS FROM HIM. POLICE HAD ALREADY CONDUCTED A SEARCH WARRANT AT LUNDRUS’ HOME, BUT FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF STOLEN PROPERTY.
