VALLEY NEWS LIVE PUBLISHED A STORY LOOKING AHEAD TO THE FIRST PART OF 2025 WHEN CANNABIS LICENSES WILL BEGIN TO BE ISSUED TO BUSINESSES, AND WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING BEHIND THE SCENES FOR THE PAST 17 MONTHS SINCE LEGISLATURE PASSED CANNABIS LEGALIZATION. THEY NOTED, THAT WITHOUT CULTIVATION OF THE PRODUCT, THERE WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO MEET DEMAND, AND THEREFORE, THEY PRETTY MUCH HAD TO BUY SOME TIME, AND AT THE TIME OF LEGALIZATION THERE WAS NO ONE GROUP READY TO OVERSEE THE PROCESS.

LAST WEEK, WE HAD THE NEWS THAT REVELATION ALE WORKS OF HALLOCK WAS GOING TO BE CEASING OPERATIONS AND THAT THE BREWERIES LAST DAY OF BUSINESS WOULD BE NOVEMBER 2ND AS THEY LOOKED TO LIQUIDATE PRODUCT THAT THEY HAD ON HAND. IN RECENT COUNTY BOARD MEETING NOTES, THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD HAS SET A PUBLIC HEARING ON NOVEMBER 12 AT 9 AM TO DISCUSS AN APPLICATION THEY RECEIVED FOR AN OFF-SALE LIQUOR LICENSE.
THEY ALSO VOTED TO SUPPORT THE BELTRAMI ISLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY’S REQUEST TO THE MINNESOTA DNR TO INSTALL A HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE BATHROOM AT THE HISTORICAL PENTUREN CHURCH.

ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30, THERE WILL BE AN OPEN HOUSE TO CELEBRATE THE RETIREMENT OF THORA HALVORSON. THE EVENT BEGINS AT 3:00.

THERE IS A BENEFIT ON SUNDAY AT THE WARROAD AMERICAN LEGION, FROM 11:00-2:00, FOR WILLOW ALTEN WHO WAS BORN WITH A COUPLE OF MEDICAL ISSUES THAT WILL REQUIRE SURGERY AND FOLLOW UP VISITS. THEY WILL SERVE A MEATBALL AND MASHED POTATO MEAL, WITH RAFFLES AND AUCTIONS.
