A ROAD PROJECT ON HIGHWAY 32 NORTHEAST OF RED LAKE FALLS WILL BEGIN TUESDAY. A DETOUR WILL BE IN PLACE USING RED LAKE COUNTY ROADS 13 AND 19. THE PROJECT, SHOULD BE COMPLETE BY LATE OCTOBER, WILL IMPROVE DRAINAGE ON THE HIGHWAY.
ANOTHER PROJECT IS ON HIGHWAY 32 JUST SOUTH OF THIEF RIVER FALLS, THAT WILL BEGIN MONDAY, AND SHOULD BE COMPLETE BY MID-OCTOBER. THAT ONE WILL HAVE SHOULDER CLOSURES, BUT NOT REQUIRE A DETOUR.
36-YEAR OLD DEREK BREKKEN, A CROOKSTON CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE, WAS ARRESTED FOR AN ALLEGED VIOLATION OF A DOMESTIC ABUSE NO-CONTACT ORDER ON WEDNESDAY. HE WAS SUPPOSED TO APPEAR AT A CANDIDATE MEET AND GREET THAT SAME EVENING. NO EXACT DETAILS ON THE MANNER OF HOW HE ALLEGEDLY VIOLATED THAT ORDER WERE GIVEN. HE FACES UP TO 90 DAYS IN JAIL FOR THAT MISDEMEANOR.
WITH SCHOOL HAVING BEEN BACK IN SESSION FOR ABOUT A MONTH, IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO CONTINUE TO STRESS SAFETY FOR STUDENTS WALKING AND BIKING TO SCHOOL. LAST WEEK ON WEDNESDAY A FRANKLIN MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT WAS HIT BY A CAR IN THIEF RIVER FALLS WHILE CROSSING HIGHWAY 59. THEY WERE RIDING THEIR BIKE AT THE TIME. THE INJURIES SUSTAINED REQUIRED BEING HELD FOR OBSERVATION AT A HOSPITAL BUT WERE NON-LIFE THREATENING.
A Memorial Service for Vivian L. Hangsleben of Warroad, MN will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 2:00PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at America Cemetery in Warroad, MN.
Vivian passed away at the age of 89.
Leonard Kukowski, age 93, of Greenbush, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at Greenbush LifeCare Manor.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, October, 5, 2024 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush.
Visitation will be held after 5PM, Friday with Holy Rosary at 6:45 and Prayer Service at 7PM at the church. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment services will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery of Leo, MN. follow services.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Greenbush American Legion Post #88 and the Minnesota National Guard.
