THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL MEETS THIS EVENING.

AMONG OTHER THINGS,  THEY’LL TALK ABOUT ONLINE STREAMING CAMERAS AT MEMORIAL ARENA.

 

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT HAS AWARDED MORE THAN TWENTY-FOUR MILLION DOLLARS FOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND REHAB PROJECTS IN GREATER MINNESOTA.

GRYGLA GETS 382 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR HOUSING AND COMMERCIAL REHABILITATION …   LAKE BRONSON WILL RECEIVE 379 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR OWNER-OCCUPIED HOUSING REHAB …   THIEF RIVER FALLS WILL GET  600 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR STREETSCAPE AND PUBLIC FACILITY  IMPROVEMENTS  ….    881 THOUSAND DOLLARS GOES TO NORTHOME,  AND 600 THOUSAND TO CLEARBROOK.

CITIES IN ROSEAU COUNTY HAVE RECEIVED SMALL CITIES DEVELOPMENT GRANTS IN PAST YEARS.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED SENDING  A LAKE OF THE WOODS ONE WATERSHED ONE PLAN TO THE MINNESOTA BOARD OF WATER AND SOIL RESOURCES FOR REVIEW.

A PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD LAST MONDAY,  WITH NOBODY IN ATTENDANCE.

 

‘WIC’  CLINICS ARE TODAY IN NEWFOLDEN;  TOMORROW IN HALLOCK;  AND WEDNESDAY AT THE WARROAD AREA COMMUNITY CENTER.

 

A SECOND ANNUAL ROSEAU SUMMER FESTIVAL WAS HELD LAST WEDNESDAY;  ORGANIZED BY THE ROSEAU PARKS DEPARTMENT AND THE ROSEAU RIVER WATERSHED DISTRICT.

TRACY HALSTENSGARD,  THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE WATERSHED BOARD,  SAYS PROMOTION OF A PLANNED RIVER TRAIL WAS PART OF THE PRESENTATION.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  LAST MONTH,  RENEWED A CONTRACT WITH THE NORTHWEST  ‘RIC’  FOR SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST SERVICES.

ROSEAU WILL PAY 682 DOLLARS A DAY FOR ABOUT THIRTY-EIGHT DAYS OF SERVICE.

DISTRICTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST,  OR TO CONTRACT FOR SERVICES.

 

A STOREY/NASH FAMILY REUNION IS SATURDAY,  STARTING AT ELEVEN,  AT THE HAWK’S NEST IN ROOSEVELT.

ROSEAU COUNTY’S  TEAM ‘EPIC’  COALITION,  WHICH IS FUNDED BY A FEDERAL GRANT THROUGH DRUG-FREE COMMUNITIES,  CONTINUES IT’S WORK TOWARD REDUCING ALCOHOL AND DRUG USE BY TEENAGERS …

 

MINNESOTA’S  GOOD FOOD ACCESS PROGRAM STARTED IN  2016,  WITH  32 COMMUNITIES BENEFITTING FROM GRANTS TO FARMERS MARKETS AND SMALL GROCERY STORES.

THIS YEAR,  THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE RECEIVED 34 APPLICATIONS TOTALLING MORE THAN A MILLION DOLLARS;  150 THOUSAND DOLLARS WAS AVAILABLE.

AN INDEPENDENT STUDY RANKS MINNESOTA AMONG THE TEN WORST STATES IN THE NATION FOR ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOOD,  ESPECIALLY IN RURAL PARTS OF THE STATE.

 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR ARNOLD THOMPSON OF CLEARBROOK  (AND FORMERLY OF WARROAD)  IS WEDNESDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN WARROAD.

ARNIE THOMPSON WAS  66.

 

A PRIVATE BURIAL WILL BE HELD FOR SANDRA HUERD OF WARROAD.

SANDY HUERD DIED SATURDAY AT AGE  75.

 

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR ROGER DOROW OF WILLIAMS IS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT  3:30  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN BAUDETTE.

MEMORIALS WILL BE DONATED TO THE TAKE A KID FISHING PROGRAM.

ROGER DOROW WAS  74.

 

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR PAULEEN JORGENSON OF ROSEAU IS FRIDAY,  JULY  12TH  AT CONCORDIA LUTHERAN CHURCH AT ROSS.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.

PAULEEN JORGENSON WAS  67.

 

DIXIE HOARD OF THIEF RIVER FALLS HAS BEEN APPOINTED BY GOVERNOR TIM WALZ TO THE METROPOLITAN AIRPORTS COMMISSION.
