CONGRESSWOMAN MICHELLE FISHBACH IS INTRODUCING LEGISLATION THAT WOULD NAME THE ROSEAU POST OFFICE IN HONOR OF FLOYD B. OLSON. HE SERVED AS POSTMASTER AT THAT LOCATION FROM 1966-1991. HE WAS BORN IN ROSEAU IN 1931 AND SPENT MUCH OF LIVE HERE. HE PASSED AWAY IN 2017.

CONSERVATION OFFICERS WILL BE KEEPING AN EYE ON BOATING SAFETY OVER A BUSY WEEK AND HOLIDAY WEEKEND. OPERATION DRY WATER IS A NATIONWIDE CAMPAIGN THAT RUNS JULY 4-6. BOATING WHILE INTOXICATED IS THE MOST COMMON CONTRIBUTOR TO BOATING ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

CORN ACREAGE PLANTED ACROSS MINNESOTA IS ESTIMATED AT 8.1 MILLION, DOWN 500,000 ACRES FROM 2023, BUT 200,000 ABOVE MARCH INTENTIONS. SOYBEAN ACREAGE IS ESTIMATED AT 7.6 MILLION ACRES, UP 250,000 FROM 2023. SPRING WHEAT ACREAGE IS UP 250,000 WHILE SUNFLOWER IS DOWN SLIGHTLY. OF COURSE, MANY FARMERS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE STATE ARE NOW ASSESSING CROP DAMAGE FROM FLOODING.

ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON LAST WEEK, A CRASH OCCURRED ON HIGHWAY 11 NEAR DONALDSON BETWEEN A SEMI AND A TRACTOR WITH A SPRAYER ATTACHMENT. EVEN WITH THE SEVERITY OF THE DAMAGE, NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED.

AFTER A REQUEST FROM GOVERNOR WALZ, 22 COUNTIES ACROSS MINNESOTA HAVE BEEN APPROVED FOR A FEDERAL DISASTER DECLARATION RELATED TO THE FLOODING. THAT WILL HELP TO REIMBURSE COMMUNITIES FOR REMOVAL OF DEBRIS, EMERGENCY PROTECTIVE SERVICES, AND TO REPAIR AND REPLACE DAMAGED INFRASTRUCTURE.

A Memorial Service for Theodore Fish of Williams, MN will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 2:00PM at the Williams City Park. Interment will follow the service at Pine Hill Cemetery in Williams, MN.
Ted passed away at the age of 81.
