REPRESENTATIVE JOHN BURKEL ISSUED A LETTER, DISCUSSING SHORTCOMINGS IN EDUCATIONAL FUNDING DUE TO MANDATES PUT ON DISTRICTS IN THE DEMOCRATIC LED GOVERNMENT. HE NOTED THE STORY OF STUDENTS IN THIEF RIVER FALLS RAISING MONEY TO SAVE A CLASSROOM AND PREVENT AS MANY CUTS AS THEY COULD. BURKEL NOTED THAT UNDER A REPUBLICAN FUNDING PLAN THAT WAS SHOT DOWN, THE THIEF RIVER FALLS DISTRICT WOULD HAVE RECEIVED MORE THAN $900,000 IN ADDITIONAL FUNDING BETWEEN LAST YEAR AND THIS YEAR. ROSEAU, WARROAD, AND MARSHALL COUNTY CENTRAL SCHOOLS ALSO WOULD HAVE BENEFITED GREATLY.
CITIZENS STATE BANK HAS A CUSTOMER APPRECIATION PICNIC PLANNED FOR NEXT TUESDAY IN THE BANK PARKING LOT. THE COMMUNITY IS INVITED FOR A MEAL, TO SIGN UP FOR PRIZES, A BOUNCE HOUSE FOR THE KIDS AND MORE. THAT IS FROM 4:00-7:00.

A BENWOOD COMMUNITY CENTER ROAST PORK SUPPER IS AUGUST 4TH FROM 11:00-2:00. CATHY ERICKSON WILL PROVIDE MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT DURING THE EVENT.
ICE WENT BACK IN TO THE NORTH RINK OVER THE WEEKEND. THERE IS A ROSEAU YOUTH HOCKEY CAMP FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.
