THE ROSEAU TIMES REGION HAD A WRITE UP ON 28-YEAR OLD XAVIER SIBRIAN OF BADGER, WHO WAS ARRESTED ON FEDERAL GUN CHARGES. PURCHASES HE MADE AT A LICENSED ROSEAU FIREARMS DEALER, WERE A PART OF 24 PURCHASES HE MADE AT A TOTAL OF SIX LOCATIONS IN MINNESOTA. HE WAS ALSO IN POSSESSION OF MECHANISMS TO TURN PISTOLS INTO AUTOMATIC WEAPONS, AND HAD HAND WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE EXPLOSIVES. HE APPEARED IN FEDERAL COURT IN DULUTH.
FOUR PEOPLE WERE INJURED IN A TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN RURAL POLK COUNTY, AT THE 120TH ST SW AND HIGHWAY 75. 26-YEAR OLD JASMINE MOFFETT OF ST HILAIRE WAS UNINJURED, WHILE THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE, 84 YEAR OLD DUANE OLSON OF THIEF RIVER FALLS AND HIS THREE PASSENGERS, 74-YEAR OLD JAN ARMSTRONG OF MARYLAND, 67-YEAR OLD VERA ARMSTRONG OF MICHIGAN AND 83-YEAR OLD JANICE OLSON OF THIEF RIVER FALLS ALL HAD NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURES. MOFFETT WAS TRAVELING EAST, OLSON SOUTH WHEN THE CRASH OCCURRED AT THAT INTERSECTION.
JAYDEN MARIE RAY OF WINGER PLEADED NOT GUILTY TO ATTEMPTED MURDER AND TWO FELONY ASSAULT CHARGES ON FRIDAY. BACK IN JANUARY, POLK COUNTY DEPUTIES WERE DISPATCHED TO A BAR IN MCINTOSH WHERE THEY FOUND A MALE LYING ON THE GROUND WITH LACERATIONS. AT A HOSPITAL, IT WAS DISCOVERED HAD AT LEAST 20 WOUNDS. THE MAN ALLEGEDLY HAD ASSAULTED PATRONS IN THE BAR, WAS LOCKED OUTSIDE, WHERE HE GOT INTO ANOTHER ALTERCATION. WITNESSES SAY THEY SAW RAY STAB THE MAN. SHE SAYS HER MOTHER WAS ONE OF THE PEOPLE WHOM THE MAN ASSAULTED. SHE FACES 20 YEARS IN PRISON.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIR WRAPPED UP LAST FRIDAY NIGHT WITH FIREWORKS BY POLARIS. ANY NUMBER OF 4-H’ERS HAVE EARNED THE RIGHT TO DISPLAY AT THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR. A NUMBER OF TIMES THROUGH THE FAIR YOU HAD A CHANCE TO SEE THE ROSEAU COUNTY 4-H DRILL TEAM IN ACTION. THEY HAD BEEN AWARDED A BLUE RIBBON AT THE NORTH REGIONAL COMPETITION EARLIER THIS MONTH.
THE FOUR SEASONS SENIOR CENTER IN ROSEAU IS LOOKING FOR A FULL-TIME DEDICATED MANAGER. THAT PERSON WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SCHEDULING ACTIVITIES FOR THE CENTER, ALONG WITH BOOKKEEPING AND PAYROLL. APPLICATIONS CAN BE PICKED UP AT THE CENTER.
THE ROSEAU AMERICAN LEGION IS SEEKING A FULL-TIME BAR/KITCHEN MANAGER. RESUMES AND COVER LETTERS CAN BE SUBMITTED TO THE ROSEAU AMERICAN LEGION FOR CONSIDERATION.
A Memorial Service for Greg Gilbert of Warroad will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad at 2:00 pm with a visitation an hour prior. Interment will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery.
