IN A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT REPORTED ON BY INEWZ, 70-YEAR OLD ROBERT JOHN MARVEL OF ROOSEVELT WAS ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY SHOWING THREATENING BEHAVIOR TOWARDS HIS NEIGHBORS. POLICE WERE DISPATCHED TO THE RESIDENCE AND SPOKE WITH HIM ONCE, LEFT THE SCENE, AND WERE CALLED BACK LATER. AT THAT TIME THEY WERE TOLD HE WAS YELLING AND HAD FIRED HIS RIFLE WHILE STANDING AT THE END OF THE NEIGHBORS’ DRIVE WAY. THE COMPLAINT SAYS HE ADMITTED TO POLICE TO DOING SO. HE’S FACING TWO FELONY CHARGES.
AS THE PERIOD ENDED FOR FILING FOR ELECTION, WE LEARNED THAT JOHN BURKEL WILL BE OPPOSED BY JAMES SCEVILLE IN THE DISTRICT 1A REPRESENTATIVE RACE. THERE WILL BE SOME COMPETITION FOR THE DISTRICT 4 SEAT IN KITTSON COUNTY, BUT IN ROSEAU COUNTY NO ONE FILED TO RUN AGAINST INCUMBENT COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.
