A NEW THREE DAY FESTIVAL CALLED NORTHBORN DAYS WILL DEBUT THIS THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY IN WARROAD. THE EVENT FEATURES PLENTY OF FAMILY FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES, A WARROAD SINGS COMPETITION ON FRIDAY, AND MUSIC FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY.
OVER THE WEEKEND, THE ROSEAU COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE PROVIDED DETAILS ON A SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT THAT OCCURRED LAST THURSDAY NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO HAYES LAKE STATE PARK. A VEHICLE HAD LEFT THE ROADWAY AND STRUCK SEVERAL TREES. A 30-YEAR OLD FEMALE FROM ALABAMA WAS AIRLIFTED TO GRAND FORKS, AND 27 YEAR OLD FEMALE FROM GEORGIA WAS TRANSPORTED TO LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER. NEITHER ALCOHOL OR DRUGS APPEAR TO HAVE FACTORED IN THAT CRASH.
THE COWBOY MOUNTED SHOOTING ASSOCIATION IS BRINGING A TWO DAY EVENT TO THE HORSE ARENA AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIRGROUND ON JUNE 19TH AND 20TH. THE EVENT IS FREE TO ALL SPECTATORS.
IT WAS HOT OVER THE WEEKEND COULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT. TEMPERATURES IN GRAND FORKS ON FRIDAY HIT 103 DEGREES, SETTING A NEW RECORD FOR THAT DATE. THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIR IS SET FOR JULY 18-23RD, AND WITH THE MASK MANDATE REPEALED AND BASICALLY ALL COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, THE FAIR WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL. THE TUESDAY PARADE WILL HAPPEN, CRESCENT CITY AMUSEMENTS IS BACK FOR THE CARNIVAL, WHILE A BAND IS BOOKED FOR TUESDAY IN THE GRANDSTAND, WITH RODEO, BUSH CAR RACES, AND DEMO DERBY FOR WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.
LAST WEEK, ROSEAU SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT TOM JEROME WAS VOTED AS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE.
THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA CROOKSTON ANNOUNCED AN UNPRECEDENTED OPPORTUNITY FOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES FROM GOODRIDGE-GRYGLA HIGH SCHOOL. A GENEROUS COMMITMENT MADE BY A DONOR WITH TIES TO THESE COMMUNITIES PROMISES TO COVER THE COST OF TUITION AND FEES FOR THOSE PURSUING A BACHELOR’S DEGREE FROM UMC. STUDENTS INTERESTED IN PURSUING THE SCHOLARSHIP MUST APPLY TO UMC, SUBMIT A FAFSA APPLICATION, AND IF ADMITTED, COULD RECEIVE FREE TUITION AND FEES FOR FOUR YEARS.
FUNERAL SERVICES FOR GLEN “DICK” BESSLER OF ROSEAU WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, JUNE 7TH AT 2 PM AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU. VISITATION WILL BE ONE HOUR PRIOR. MILITARY HONORS BY THE ROSEAU MEMORIAL HONOR GUARD. DICK BESSLER PASSED AWAY JUNE 1ST AT THE AGE OF 87.
