THE RED RIVER FARM NETWORK SAYS SALES OF COMBINES AND FOUR WHEEL DRIVE TRACTORS WERE DOWN IN JULY;  COMBINE SALES DECREASED BY TWENTY-SIX PERCENT.

 

U.S.  SENATOR TINA SMITH WAS IN ROSEAU LAST WEEK,  TOURING POLARIS AND VISITING WITH AREA OFFICIALS ON REDUCED HOURS AT THE ROSEAU AND LANCASTER PORTS OF ENTRY WITH CANADA.

SMITH HEARD ABOUT THE IMPACT OF TARIFFS ON POLARIS INDUSTRIES,  AND SAID FARMERS ARE ALSO BEING NEGATIVELY AFFECTED.

SMITH ALSO SPENT SOME TIME AT THE NORTHWEST ANGLE LAST WEEK.

 

ADDRESS CANVASSING BY  U.S.  CENSUS WORKERS IS UNDERWAY,  AHEAD OF NEXT YEAR’S  CENSUS.

THOSE WORKERS WILL HAVE AN OFFICIAL IDENTIFICATION CARD.

CHERYL TUPA,  A TEMPORARY CENSUS WORKER RECRUITER  FROM POLK COUNTY,  WAS AT LAST MONTH’S ROSEAU COUNTY FAIR;  SHE SAYS THERE IS AN ANNUAL THREE THOUSAND DOLLAR LOSS FOR EVERY UN-COUNTED PERSON,  AND THAT THE CENSUS STILL NEEDS WORKERS.

 

 

‘WIC’  CLINICS ARE TODAY AT LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER IN ROSEAU;  AND NEXT TUESDAY (August 27)  AT GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN GRYGLA.

LEE SAYS THE STUDY SUGGESTS NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE YEAR-ROUND.

 

 

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR DALE CARLSON OF ROSEAU  ARE TOMORROW MORNING AT TEN  AT MOE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSEAU.  VISITATION IS THIS EVENING  (5-7 PM)  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.

DALE  CARLSON WAS  53.

 

LIFECARE ROSEAU MANOR AND LIFECARE GREENBUSH MANOR HAVE A ROOT BEER FLOAT FUNDRAISER MONDAY AFTERNOON  (2-3:30 PM)  WITH PROCEEDS GOING TO BENEFIT THE ALZHEIMER’S WALK TO REMEMBER.

 

THE NORTHERN MINNESOTA SONGWRITERS MEET SEPTMBER 14TH IN BEMIDJI.  THAT GROUP MEETS QUARTERLY TO LEARN AND SHARE SONGS, AND ALL SONGWRITERS  (FROM BEGINNERS TO PROFESSIONALS)  ARE WELCOME.

 

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR A TEACHING ARTIST ROSTER PROGRAM IS SEPTEMBER  6TH.

A SMALL COHORT WILL BE SELECTED FOR A SEVEN SESSION TRAINING INTENDED TO DEVELOP SKILLS FOR CONDUCTING COLLABORATIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCES IN COMMUNITIES AND SCHOOLS.

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  HEARD FROM TRANSPORTATION DIRECTOR KURT OSWEILER –  WHO SAID BUSSES ARE READY TO GO FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR.   THERE ARE TWELVE ROUTES AND TWELVE ROUTE DRIVERS, WITH SEVEN SUBSTITUTE DRIVERS.  OSWEILER DID SAY HIS DRIVERS  “AREN’T GETTING ANY YOUNGER”  AND  “THERE’S A DRIVER SHORTAGE EVERYWHERE YOU GO”.   ROSEAU BUSSES TRAVEL MORE THAN  320 THOUSAND MILES EVERY SCHOOL YEAR,  WITH ANOTHER 60 THOUSAND MILES IN ACTIVITY BUSSES AND VANS.

 

 

KAREN MINSKE OF ROSEAU DIED MONDAY AT AGE  75.   A SMALL FAMILY GATHERING WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE.

 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR DONALD BERGERSON OF THIEF RIVER FALLS IS SATURDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN AT OUR SAVIOR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH IN THIEF RIVER FALLS.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.
