THE ROSEAU COUNTY AUDITOR’S OFFICE IS BRINGING ATTENTION TO AN ERROR THAT OCCURRED ON BALLOTS SENT OUT IN MAIL BALLOT PRECINCTS, AND THAT REPLACEMENT BALLOTS HAVE BEEN MAILED. THE ERROR INVOLVED A QUESTION ON THE GREENBUSH-MIDDLE RIVER SCHOOL DISTRICT REFERENDUM. IF YOU RESIDE IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING TOWNSHIPS, YOU WILL NEED TO USE THE REPLACEMENT BALLOT. YOUR ORIGINAL BALLOT WILL NOT COUNT. THIS INCLUDES POPLAR GROVE, SKAGEN, POHLITZ, PALMVILLE, MOOSE, LIND, HUSS, AND BARNETT TOWNSHIPS. FOR ALL OTHER LOCATIONS, EITHER BALLOT WILL COUNT. THE AUDITOR’S OFFICE IS AVAILABLE IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS.

TODAY BEGINS CRAZY DAYS IN ROSEAU, AND WITH THAT WILL COME EVENTS AND SALES DOWNTOWN THAT WILL HAVE A PORTION OF MAIN AVENUE THROUGH DOWNTOWN CLOSED FOR TRAFFIC.

THERE IS BAJA RACING IN ST HILAIRE ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON AS A FUNDRAISER FOR THE ST HILAIRE LIONS CLUB. IT’S THE 9TH YEAR THEY’VE HELD THE FUNDRAISER.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL CONTINUED DISCUSSIONS THIS WEEK ON THE NEW BUSINESS BEING RENOVATED ALONG HIGHWAY 11 IN ROSEAU, OWNED BY ORLANDO AND CHANTEL PERALTA. THEY HAD BEEN INFORMED THAT THE EXTERIOR BUILDING MATERIALS USED DO NOT MEET BUILDING CODES. THE COUNCIL OPTED AGAINST A VARIANCE THAT COULD HAVE GIVEN THEM UP TO 36 MONTHS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE, INSTEAD EXTENDED AN OCCUPANCY LICENSE FOR ONE YEAR TO BRING THE BUILDING UP TO CODE.

AARON MICHAEL WEIL WILL BRING CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN MUSIC TO THE GAZEBO FOR THE CONCERT THIS EVENING AT 6:30. WARROAD ROBOTICS WILL BE SERVING SLOPPY JOES AND ROOT BEER FLOATS AS A FUNDRAISING MEAL.

IN NATIONAL AG NEWS, CROP CONDITIONS VARY ACROSS THE NATION, WITH THINGS GOOD IN THE CORN BELT AND SOUTHERN PLAINS, WHILE IN THE MIDWEST THEY HAVE DEALT WITH WETTER CONDITIONS. THERE HAS BEEN LITTLE TO NO DROUGHT CONCERNS, WHICH IS A SHARP CONTRACT TO THE PRIOR COUPLE OF SEASONS. OF THE MAJOR CORN PRODUCING STATES, MINNESOTA DID HAVE THE LOWEST PERCENTAGE OF CORN THAT WAS RATED GOOD-TO-EXCELLENT AT ONLY 58%, SOYBEANS WERE AT 60%, WHICH IS CLOSER TO NORMAL.
