THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATIONS OF 4TH GRADE TEACHER SARA OLSON ….    PARAPROFESSIONAL DENIELLE REED …  AND  BUS DRIVER  DENNIS STRANDLUND,  WHO’S DRIVEN FOR THE DISTRICT FOR  FORTY-THREE YEARS.

 

THE ROSEAU HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BAND STARTED IT’S AREA CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCES YESTERDAY WITH A SHOW FOR THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

 

THE NUMBER OF JOB VACANCIES IN MINNESOTA IS GREATER THAN THE NUMBER OF AVAILABLE WORKERS,  AND PARTICULARLY IN MANUFACTURING.

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SAYS MANUFACTURING EMPLOYERS   (LIKE POLARIS INDUSTRIES AND MARVIN WINDOWS AND DOORS)  ARE REPORTING HIRING DIFFICULTIES IN SIXTY-TWO PERCENT OF THEIR VACANCIES.

THOSE COMPANIES SAY WORKFORCE SHORTAGES ARE ESPECIALLY ACUTE IN SKILLED POSITIONS LIKE MACHINISTS  AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIANS.

 

WITH CHRISTMAS NEXT WEDNESDAY,   CARMA HANSON WITH SAFE KIDS/ GRAND FORKS  SAYS TOY BUYERS SHOULD CONSIDER SAFETY WHEN CHOOSING GIFTS.

 

THE ROSEAU ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY MET YESTERDAY,  WITH ADDITIONAL DISCUSSION ABOUT A HOUSING SHORTAGE AND A WORKFORCE SHORTAGE IN ROSEAU.

 

ROSEAU  4TH,  5TH AND  6TH  GRADERS HAVE THEIR CHRISTMAS PROGRAM TODAY  (Ten and Two)  AT THE SCHOOL THEATRE.

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY HELD A WORKSHOP LAST MONTH ON THE APPRENTICESHIP MINNESOTA PROGRAM IN ROSEAU.

JOHN AIKEN IS THE STATE DIRECTOR OF LABOR STANDARDS AND APPRENTICESHIP;  HE SAYS THERE ARE CURRENTLY TWELVE THOUSAND REGISTERED APPRENTICES IN MINNESOTA,  INCLUDING SOME IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR.

 

ROSEAU HAS JOINED A NORTHWEST MINNESOTA  MULTI-COUNTY  JUVENILE DETENTION ALTERNATIVE INITIATIVE COLLABORATIVE.     SEVERAL COUNTIES IN THE STATE ARE ALREADY INVOLVED  IN  J.D.A.I. WORK,  INCLUDING  HENNEPIN,  RAMSEY,  ST LOUIS AND DAKOTA;  BUT THIS IS THE FIRST MULTI/COUNTY EFFORT.

OUT OF HOME PLACEMENTS WILL COST ROSEAU COUNTY TAXPAYERS MORE THAN  EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS IN  2019.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR NEIL ANDERSON OF ROSEAU IS SATURDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN AT JOHNSON FUNERAL SERVICE IN THIEF RIVER FALLS.  VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.

NEIL ANDERSON WAS  71.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL MEETS THIS EVENING TO TALK ABOUT EMPLOYEE NEGOTIATIONS.
