UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA-CROOKSTON CHANCELLOR MARY HOLZ-CLAUSE ANSWERED A QUESTION IN HER MONTHLY COMMUNITY LETTER AT THE REQUEST OF THE CROOKSTON SCHOOL DISTRICT. THE QUESTION THEY ARE ASKED, IS WHY THE DISTRICT DOESN’T BUY THE ATHLETIC FACILITIES IT USES AT THE UNIVERSITY INSTEAD OF PURSUING A NEW ATHLETIC COMPLEX. SHE SAID THE UNIVERSITY STILL SEES SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM STRATEGIC VALUE TO THOSE FACILITIES AND THE UNIVERSITY IS NOT INTERESTED IN SELLING. CROOKSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL ASK VOTERS FOR A SECOND TIME IN FEBRUARY TO APPROVE A 4.9 MILLION REFERENDUM FOR AN ATHLETIC COMPLEX. THE FIRST NARROWLY FAILED IN AUGUST. THE PRICE TAG IS NOW $1 MILLION HIGHER THAN IT WAS IN AUGUST.
