A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR JULIE MAE LEGREID OF BADGER WILL BE SATURDAY (2 PM) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU, WITH VISITATION ONE HOUR PRIOR. JULIE WAS 61.

Minnesota’s two largest cities moved Wednesday to reimpose mask requirements in businesses and public places as the omicron variant of coronavirus spreads rapidly. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter said the requirement would take effect in both cities at 5 p.m. Thursday. Frey said it’s essential to keep the city healthy and moving, and wearing a mask is an obvious thing to do.

IN TOTAL, THERE WERE 497 TRAFFIC FATALITIES, THE MOST SINCE 2007. 162 OF THOSE WERE SPEED-RELATED, AN INCREASE OF 33% OVER THE YEAR PRIOR. OLMSTEAD COUNTY SHERIFF KEVIN TORGERSON SAID THE MINNESOTA TOWARD ZERO DEATHS CAMPAIGN HAD A GOAL OF 230 DEATHS IN A YEAR.
