THE ROSEAU SCHOOL DISTRICT SOLD NEARLY FORTY MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF BONDS YESTERDAY FOR THEIR SCHOOL RENOVATION AND BUILDING PROJECT. THERE WERE EIGHT BIDS; THE LOW BID WAS FOR 2.14 PERCENT INTEREST. THE SCHOOL’S FINANCIAL ADVISORS, EHLERS AND ASSOCIATES, CALLED THE RESULTS “OUTSTANDING”; AND SAID “INTEREST RATES ARE AT NEAR HISTORIC LOWS”.
THE SCHOOL HAD ANTICIPATED INTEREST RATES NEAR FOUR PERCENT EARLIER THIS YEAR. THE LOWER RATE MEANS A THIRTEEN MILLION DOLLAR SAVINGS OVER THE 25 YEAR BOND REPAYMENT PERIOD.

 

THE ROSEAU ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE HAS A SCHEDULED OUTAGE EARLY TOMORROW MORNING (FROM SIX TO SEVEN A.M.) FOR EMERGENCY SUBSTATION MAINTENANCE. THAT WILL AFFECT CUSTOMERS IN THE CITY OF ROSEAU, AS WELL AS THE TOWNSHIPS OF SPRUCE, DIETER, ROSS AND JADIS.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS INVESTIGATING THE TUESDAY DEATH OF 48 YEAR OLD MARISSA ANN RASMUSSEN.
SHE WAS FOUND IN A SUBMERGED VEHICLE ON COUNTY ROAD 23 NORTH AND WEST OF GREENBUSH, AND WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.
ROSEAU COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE JUST AFTER ONE O’CLOCK TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
RASMUSSEN WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE VEHICLE.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR MARK HEGLE OF WALKER, MINNESOTA (AND FORMERLY OF ROSEAU) IS SATURDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN AT THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH IN ROSEAU.

ROSEAU COUNTY HIGHWAY ENGINEER BRIAN KETRING RESIGNED TUESDAY, SAYING HE’S ACCEPTED A JOB AS ASSISTANT DISTRICT TWO ENGINEER.
HE WOULD REPLACE THE RETIRING LU TASA IN THAT POSITION.
KETRING HAS BEEN WITH ROSEAU COUNTY FOR TWENTY-TWO YEARS, EIGHTEEN AS HIGHWAY ENGINEER.
THE COUNTY BOARD IS ADVERTISING FOR A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER TO SUCCEED KETRING.

 

THE SECOND CONCERT IN THE SUMMER SERIES AT ROSEAU’S RIVERVIEW PARK GAZEBO IS TONIGHT, FEATURING A ROSEAU COUNTY-BASED BAND CALLED “THE NORTHERN SUNS”.
