THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH HAS UNVEILED A COMMUNITY COVID VACCINE PROGRAM IN NINE LOCATIONS AROUND THE STATE,  INCLUDING A PILOT SITE IN THIEF RIVER FALLS FOR PEOPLE SIXTY-FIVE YEARS AND OLDER;  TEACHERS AND SCHOOL STAFF;  AND STAFF WORKING AT LICENSED AND CERTIFIED CHILD CARE PROGRAMS.

APPOINTMENTS WILL BE TAKEN STARTING THURSDAY.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  LAST WEEK,  DISCUSSED A LAW ENFORCEMENT MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT FOR THE ENBRIDGE PIPELINE PROJECT.    THAT MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT WAS ALREADY IN PLACE.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE STATE OF MINNESOTA FOR THE COUNTY’S TREATMENT COURTS.

THAT INCLUDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR PROBATION SERVICES FOR THE DRUG AND  D-U-I  COURTS,

WHICH HAVE BEEN HELD VIRTUALLY DURING THE PANDEMIC.

 

GENERAL  SIGNUP FOR THE  CONSERVATION RESERVE PROGRAM IN ROSEAU COUNTY STARTED EARLIER THIS MONTH.

DUSTIN SPAETH,  THE ROSEAU COUNTY  EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AT THE FARM SERVICE AGENCY OFFICE,  SAYS  C.R.P.  HAS BEEN POPULAR IN THE COUNTY.

 

THE MINNESOTA  D.N.R.  SAYS HUNTERS HARVESTED 195 THOUSAND DEER IN  2020,

DOWN FROM A PEAK OF NEARLY 300 THOUSAND IN  2003.  THE DEER HARVEST HAS SEEN DECLINING NUMBERS SINCE  2007,  WITH A LOW OF LESS THAN  150 THOUSAND IN 2014.

JOHN WILLIAMS,  THE NORTHWEST REGION WILDLIFE SUPERVISOR,  SAYS PART OF THAT IS DECLINING NUMBERS OF DEER HUNTERS IN THE STATE.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  RE-ELECTED PETE KVIEN CHAIR.

UNIVERSITY of MINNESOTA EXTENSION STRATEGIC FARMING VIRTUAL SESSIONS CONTINUE TOMORROW MORNING WITH A PRESENTATION ON HERBICIDE TECHNOLOGY.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR GREGORY GRAHN OF ROSEAU,  FOLLOWING ALL MINNESOTA COVID GUIDELINES,  IS FRIDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN AT THE ROSEAU COMMUNITY CHURCH.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.

GREG  GRAHN WAS  70.

 

ROSEAU COUNTY’S  FOURTEEN DAY COVID CASE RATE FOR THE TWO WEEKS FROM JANUARY  3RD THROUGH THE  17TH  WAS AT  31.68  PER TEN THOUSAND RESIDENTS.

THAT’S JUST SLIGHTLY HIGHER  THAN LAST WEEK’S CASE RATE OF JUST OVER TWENTY-EIGHT TEN THOUSAND.

LIFECARE PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTOR  JULIE  PAHLEN SAID YESTERDAY THE COVID WINGS AT THE HOSPITAL AND THE ROSEAU AND GREENBUSH MANOR NURSING HOMES WERE CLOSED,  BECAUSE THERE WERE NO LOCAL CASES NEEDING COVID CARE.

THE NUMBER OF NEW CASES IN THE COUNTY HAS DROPPED DRAMATICALLY SINCE EARLY DECEMBER.

JULIE PAHLEN SAYS  720 ROSEAU COUNTY RESIDENTS HAVE RECEIVED CORONAVIRUS VACCINATIONS, WITH ROUND TWO STARTING THIS WEEK.
