KRYSTLE DE LEON, ONE OF THE TWO WOMEN FROM WINNIPEG THAT WERE CAUGHT WITH POSSESSION OF NEARLY 300 GRAMS OF COCAINE AT THE WARROAD PORT OF ENTRY, HAS BEEN GIVEN A STAYED 48-MONTH SENTENCE, ACCORDING TO A PLEA AGREEMENT. SHE WAS THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE. A PASSENGER, SARAH SOPHIA ROSE, IS AWAITING FURTHER COURT DATES ON JULY 1. THE TWO SAID THEY WERE PAID TO TRANSPORT THE DRUGS FROM WINNIPEG INTO ONTARIO, AND NEVER INTENDED TO END UP AT CUSTOMS AND ATTEND TO ENTRY THE UNITED STATES. THAT STOP OCCURRED IN LATE MARCH.
A 13-YEAR OLD BOY WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD YESTERDAY AT A JUVENILE FACILITY IN WILLMAR, PART OF PRAIRIE LAKES YOUTH PROGRAMS. CREWS RESPONDED TO A CALL FOR AN UNRESPONSIVE CLIENT AND DETERMINED HE WAS ALREADY DEAD. THEY SAID THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF TRAUMA OR VIOLENT DEATH.
FARGO POLICE FOUND A SEMI DRIVER DEAD IN HIS CAB, PARKED AT A FARGO GAS STATION. HE WAS PULLED FROM THE SLEEPER CAB, AND THEY SAY THE TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED SINCE WEDNESDAY. CAUSE OF DEATH WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THEY DO NOT SUSPECT FOUL PLAY.
THE LAKE OF THE WOODS AND ROSEAU COUNTY SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICTS HAVE A FIELD DAY PLANNED FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 10 AT THE ROOSEVELT COMMUNITY CENTER FROM 8-3. REGISTRATION IS REQUESTED, BUT IT IS FREE AND LUNCH IS PROVIDED. THEY’LL HAVE A NUMBER OF PRESENTERS ON HAND.
