AREA CONSERVATION OFFICERS ARE BUSY PREPARING FOR THE FIREARMS SEASON OPENER THIS WEEKEND, WHILE CONTINUING TO CHECK WITH ANGLERS, WATERFOWL, AND SMALL GAME HUNTERS. TWO CONSERVATION OFFICERS DEALT WITH REMOVING BLINDS AND STANDS FROM WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREAS. HUNTERS ARE REMINDED TO BRUSH UP ON REGULATIONS BEFORE THE SEASON.
THE MINNESOTA DEER HUNTERS ASSOCIATION, BASED IN GRAND RAPIDS, IS SORTING THROUGH APPLICANTS FOR A NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. THE GROUP HAS ABOUT 20,000 MEMBERS SPREAD ACROSS 63 LOCAL CHAPTERS STATEWIDE. THEIR PRESIDENT SAID COVID “CRASHED” THEIR MEMBERSHIPS AS THEY LOST THE ABILITY TO HOST IN PERSON BANQUETS, BUT HEY NOW HAVE MORE MEMBERS THAN THEY DID PRE-COVID.

THE GRAND FORKS WOMAN SHOT LAST WEEK HAS DIED. THE INCIDENT WAS DESCRIBED AS A DOMESTIC INCIDENT INVOLVING A FIREARM, AND THE SHOOTER, THE WOMAN’S SON, HAD SHOT AND KILLED HIMSELF SHORTLY AFTER. 53 YEAR OLD JENNIFER JEAN HARRISON WAS SHOT BY 21 YEAR OLD TYLER CHRISTOPHER HARRISON.
NEIGHBORS HELPED TO RESCUE A MAN WHO HAD OVERTURNED IN HIS KAYAK ON A CENTRAL MINNESOTA LAKE LAST WEDNESDAY. THEY USED A CANOE AND PADDLE BOARD TO REACH THE MAN SHORTLY BEFORE FIREFIGHTERS WERE ABLE TO ASSIST. THE MAN WAS NOT WEARING A LIFE JACKET.
THE CITY OF ROSEAU IS SEEKING A NEW CHIEF OF POLICE THAT WOULD LEAD THE ROSEAU DEPARTMENT BEGINNING JANUARY 1. THEY’RE ACCEPTING APPLICANTS THROUGH NOVEMBER 11.
