THERE IS AN EVENT AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY MUSEUM TONIGHT TO OPEN UP THEIR HOLIDAY LIGHTING DISPLAYS. THERE IS A CATERED MEAL FOR THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE BEGINNING AT 5:00, WITH A STORYTELLING AND MUSICAL PROGRAM AT 6:00. THE MUSEUM IS ALSO OPEN FOR THEIR CHRISTMAS TREE WALK.

ALEXANDRIA POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A SUSPICIOUS DEATH FROM EVENTS LAST FRIDAY. AUTHORITIES WERE CALLED TO A RESIDENCE WHERE A VICTIM WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. THEY FOUND ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO BE TREATING THE DEATH AS A HOMICIDE, BUT IT NOT APPEAR RANDOM, AND THEY DON’T FEAR A THREAT TO THE PUBLIC.

When considering farmland rentals for the 2024 season, property owners and farmers will have to consider myriad factors including lower crop prices weighed against higher land values and input costs. Some of the guesswork was taken out of the planning for a group of about 50 landowners on Thursday, Nov. 16 as they attended a University of Minnesota fair rental agreement workshop led by extension educator Nathan Hulinsky. Hulinsky said what will factor into it is that commodity prices have fallen nearly 50% from 2022 prices in some cases. The state average per rented acre in Minnesota for 2023, which was $198 an acre for non-irrigated cropland, according to USDA reports. That’s $13 an acre higher than 2022.
